STFC are Swindon's top football team, based at The County Ground Stadium.
The County Ground, County Road, Swindon, Wiltshire , SN1 2ED
Website 0330 002 1993Full-time was a while ago. I stopped caring after the goal.
90- Wootton gets booked after a scuffle. 0-1.
Five minutes added on. *Obligatory where did he get that from.*
89- OFF: Madden
ON: Davenport
84- OFF: Khan, Jephcott, Blake-Tracy
ON: Kadji, Tomlinson, Clayton
80- Stockport had a lovely sweeping counter attack which was led to Croasdale sweeping a shot into the net. 0-1.
Goal. Swindon 0 Stockport 1 (Croasdale 80')
75- The whole stadium is now clapping for Nigel Eady after the stadium purchase went through yesterday. 0-0.
72- Hussey gets forward from the back this time and shoots narrowly wide of the post from 25 yards out. 0-0.
70- Wootton knocked the ball down for Madden outside the area, but his shot went well over the top. 0-0.
67- I feel Swindon are getting a little too deep here. It has been a while since they got forwards themselves to disrupt Stockport's flow. 0-0.
66- "Stand up if you hate the ref" is now the chant, and I can't see as everyone stood up. 0-0.
65- OFF: Wright, Evans
ON: Rowe, Stretton
64- OFF: Williams
ON: Darcy
64- Evans gets booked for stopping a quick free-kick from being taken. It was celebrated like a goal. 0-0.
63- Jody Morris is now being booked to a chorus of "you're not fit to referee". Tough to disagree right now. 0-0.
62- Williams has now been booked for a late challenge in midfield. That one was fair. 0-0.
61- The balls deflects out to Knoyle and he looks to get the ball across, but his cross is way to quick for anyone to get on the end of. 0-0.
60- Sol Brynn gets booked for timewasting even though he only just got the ball. 0-0.
59- The ref is becoming rather finickity and is fast losing the crowd here as many of the fouls are going against Swindon. 0-0.
57- Stockport had a corner and obviously that made it pretty certain they would score. But Lavinier met the ball in and headed it well clear, Stockport recycled but Brynn made a big catch to halt the attack. 0-0.
55- Swindon have begun this half fairly well. Stockport haven't seemed up to much going forwards and when there is a chance to attack they have gotten forwards. 0-0.
54- Things not quite falling for Swindon. RHM burst beyond two defenders to the edge of the box, but his pass to Hutton was cleared. That clearance then went to Khan, but with such velocity that he couldn't bring it under his spell. 0-0.
51- Good hands on Brynn. Stockport are looking to work a gap and eventually Rydel hits a great shot from range, but Brynn gets behind it and makes the catch. 0-0.
49- Kyle Knoyle gets booked for a late challenge on Brynn; the crowd wanted more. 0-0.
48- Joe Lewis goes into the book for a foul on Williams. 0-0.
46- We made it through 45 seconds without a calamity this time. Improvement. 0-0.
46- Stockport get us back underway. 0-0.
46- OFF: Charlie Austin
ON: Marcel Lavinier
Charlie Austin's lack of legs have been on display a few times here when he was unable to get up with play when Swindon countered quickly. He can still be useful if the longer balls go towards him as on occasion there was some good hold-up play, but it hasn't happened enough.
Credit to Swindon in that first half, that could have been a lot worse. Morris played the fake-injury to Brynn to sort them out structurally and Stockport have created very little since. RHM has played very well on the counter and if there was someone else around him with some legs then Swindon could be dangerous too.
Half-time: Swindon 0 Stockport 0.
45- Rydel goes into the book for a foul on Hutton. Dangerous free-kick for Town. 0-0.
45- McEachran plays the ball to RHM, he hits a Fabregas-like ball to send Austin away. However, the forward does not have the legs to beat Wright to the ball. 0-0.
45- OFF: Byrne
ON: Lewis
Three minutes added on to the half . *Obligatory where did he get that from*.
42- Great work from Brewitt and McEachran set Hutton down the right. RHM was darting into the middle but Wright did well to get across and clear the ball into the middle. 0-0.
40- RHM won the ball in defence and made a great run in-field. He then found Hutton on the right, but with nobody ahead of him he tried to go beyond Rydel and was dispossessed. 0-0.
38- Lavinier is warming up and watching Knoyle make several good runs behind RHM during this half, I feel it would be wise to get the full-back on sooner rather than later. 0-0.
35- Lovely bit of comedy as after Knoyle had been called offside, Madden looked to pass into an empty net, but hit it off Wootton instead. Not his afternoon so far. Goal incoming. 0-0.
34- It would be nice if when Swindon do play long, they kick it remotely close to where Austin is. They all go nowhere near him. 0-0.
29- Stockport come close. Rydel plays a dangerous low ball into the middle that Swindon just about clear, before Madden flicks the ball over his head and hits a weak shot straight at Brynn from the edge of the box. 0-0.
26- Swindon are starting to get more of a foothold here. Keeping possession and moving up the field. My guess is this means Stockport score in the next five minutes. 0-0.
23- Rare foray forwards for Swindon. FBT and RHm run beyond Austin and get Swindon up the field. RHM drifts wide plays a good ball in towards Austin, but Hinchliffe makes a good catch. 0-0.
19- Since the injury, Swindon have swapped to a 522, with Tomlinson playing RCB. Perhaps the Brynn thing was planned and given the amount of red cards this season, having a plan to deal with one is good thinking from Morris. 0-0.
19- I have just witnessed a miracle. Stockport just had a free-kick from basically the corner flag and Swindon dealt with it. 0-0.
16- Brynn is going to play on for now, but seeing your 'keeper go down is not a good sight. Someone in the press box reckons him going down was tactical so Morris could speak to the players, here's hoping he's right. 0-0.
16- It looks like Jack Copland could be in line to make his debut and somewhere Sandro is going to be making another call to Sutton about Lewis Ward.
13- Worst possible news alert. Jack Copland has just been sent round to ask Sol Brynn about something and he has just gone down holding his thigh. This is basically worst case scenario in every respect right now. 0-0.
13- Swindon doing well to restrict any space between the lines. The back four and the midfield are very compact, Callum Camps just spooned a shot wide from range, you would take kind of shot continuing to happen. 0-0.
10- Stockport go close. Akil Wright comes forward from the back and plays a wicked ball into Wootton, his header went narrowly over the top. 0-0.
9- As you would expect County are controlling the ball and looking to move Swindon side-to-side, but as yet they haven't found any inroads. 0-0.
6- Swindon have switched into a 441 formation after the red card with Williams moving out to the left and a lot of this game will now be about how structured they can be. Recent evidence suggests not very, but Stockport came from behind with 10-men to draw at Edgeley Park. 0-0.
2- RHM gets booked after he ran into the box and went down after there was pressure on his back. 0-0.
2- Swindon off the hook. Sol Brynn gets down and saves Madden's poorly hit penalty. Praise the lord for that beautiful Northener. 0-0.
1- Penalty to Stockport and Wakeling has been sent off for bundling over Madden in the box. 0-0.
1- Charlie Austin gets us underway at the County Ground. Swindon are shooting towards the Town End first 0-0.
Here come the players.
In the biggest scandal since Spygate, Swindon kitman and signing sensation Jonah is currently in the Stockport dugout rooting around for Lord knows what, but it seems shady.
Michael Doughty is currently parading the League Two trophy around the pitch, at least there will be a reason to cheer today. If you can't tell this live blog has started on a very pessimistic note and I imagine it will continue like this.
Swindon will be out to break a 20-year-old record today of losing at home to Stockport. October 2003 was the last time County won here, 4-2 in February 2004. Since it has been three wins and a draw before Stockport got relegated out of the Football League.
The pre-match festivities have begun and after a brief chat with Hanners on my way up it does sound like there is a good plan today. Don Rogers and John Trollope are both being interviewed, so just the two biggest legends in the club's history.
After a confusing few minutes trying to figure this out, Connor Evans is also known as Connor Lemonheigh-Evans and he has been recalled from Notts County to start today.
Stockport are normally a 352, so we will expect that they are sticking with that.
Hinchliffe
Byrne Wright Hussey
Knoyle Evans Croasdale Camps Rydel
Madden Wootton
Stockport County XI:
Hinchliffe, Knoyle, Wright, Byrne, Evans, Camps, Madden, Rydel, Croasdale, Wootton, Hussey
Subs: Jones, Johnson, Stretton, Oloafe, Davenport, Lewis, Rowe.
Swindon Town XI:
Brynn; Hutton, Brewitt, Blake-Tracy, Tomlinson; Khan, McEachran, Williams; Wakeling, Austin, Hepburn-Murphy
Subs: Copland, Clayton, Darcy, Jephcott, Cain, Kadji, Lavinier
It will be interesting to see how the set pieces go today (plug: https://www.totalswindon.com/sport/why-are-swindon-town-conceding-from-so-many-corners/). Obviously it is going very badly for Swindon right now and Stockport scored from a free-kick in the league match earlier this season. But Stockport are only the 12th best in the league at scoring from set pieces, so hardly a team that should be causing loads of problems.
Swindon are not the only ones to have a player sunning themselves on international duty in the Caribbean. Tyrese Shade started as St Kitts and Nevis won 3-1 against Saint Martin (watching the highlights it looked like he was playing right-back). Stockport have Myles Hippolyte in Concacaf Nations League action as well, he scored Grenada's only goal as they lost 7-1 against the USA last night.
Good afternoon everyone. For the first time in 127 years, Swindon are playing a home game at a stadium that they own following yesterday's confirmation of the joint venture purchase. Stockport County are in town and are in 6th place in League Two, but they have won just once in their last five matches and are in a scrap to keep their place in the play-offs. If Swindon are to get into that conversation, they will almost certainly need three points today.
