MATCH REPORT: Swindon Town (6) Crawley Town (0)

Jake Young scored four goals and set up the fifth to give Michael Flynn his first win at the County Ground, 6-0 against Crawley Town. Total Sport’s Joe Acklam reports live from the County Ground.

Dan Kemp got Swindon ahead after 34 minutes with a calm finish to give Swindon the lead at the break following a breathless first half.

Swindon came flying out of the traps in the second half as Young bagged four goals after the break to kill off any hopes of Crawley getting back into the match and Shade added further gloss in stoppage time.

Youngs goals saw Swindon move up to eighth place in the League Two table and would move into the automatic promotion places if they win their game in hand.

Michael Flynn made one change from the side who had played the frenetic 5-5 draw against Wrexham seven days earlier. Tariq Uwakwe made his first league start for the club ahead of Brooklyn Genesini, who dropped out of the squad.

Crawley should have taken the lead inside ten minutes when Nicholas Tsaroulla walked through the middle of the Swindon defence and squared the ball to Danilo Orsi. Completely unmarked, eight yards out he managed to hook the ball over the bar.

Kemp made a great run beyond the Crawley defence after 14 minutes and looked to drill the ball across Corey Addai, but his effort went just beyond the upright.

A creative free-kick routine saw Kemp free down the left and he looked to pick out a ball across the face of goal, which went just too far ahead of Udoka Godwin-Malife.

One the half hour mark Frazer Blake-Tracy won the ball back midway inside the Crawley half and found Kemp, whose shot whistled over the top.

Four minutes later Kemp got the goal he so richly deserved after exchanging passes with Jake Young, with Austin square he chose to finish and curled his shot beyond Addai and into the far corner.

Adam Campbell was presented with a prime opportunity to equalise almost immediately after as he found himself two-v-two inside the Swindon half. With Murphy Mahoney in no-man’s land he attempted an audacious chip but sent it wide of the mark.

Young extended the lead within three minutes of restart as Saidou Khan played him in down the left and he slotted the ball beyond Addai at the near post from a tight angle.

Three minutes later Swindon had a third when Kemp robbed Crawley deep in their half, played the ball to Jake Young to lash the ball into the bottom corner.

Kemp continued to cause countless problems for Crawley as he wriggled his way into space on the edge of the area and forced a good stop from Addai down to his left.

Tariq Uwakwe did well to find space on the left after 71 minutes and hung up a perfect cross to Jake Young at the back post, who gleefully nodded it into the back of the net.

Tyrese Shade came off the bench late on and made his impact known eight minutes into stoppage time as he drilled a shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.
