MATCH PREVIEW | Swindon Town vs Bradford City

Swindon travel to Bradford looking to get their season back on track following their first loss of the season to Notts County.

Tuesday's game against Notts County was one to forget for Michael Flynn's men. The first half saw Notts County take a 3-0 lead in at half-time, Town could simply not live with the width County provided. The second half was better viewing, Swindon clawed a goal back but didn’t challenge the County goal enough to fight back.

Bradford come into the game having suffered back-to-back losses to Walsall and Tranmere. The Bantams find themselves in 18th place after a difficult start to the season.

Will Swindon bounce back?

The loss to Notts County will have affected Swindon who now sit four points off the top of the table. They will take some positives away from the second half that saw Swindon completely control the game.

The biggest issue Swindon faced was struggling to convert their attempts on goal into actual chances. Notts County had ten shots during the game with six being on target and three finding the back of the net. Swindon in comparison had a staggering 18 shots but only four on target with only one goal.

Swindon will need to be more clinical in front of goal if they want to take three points away from Valley Parade.

No Jake Young

Swindon will be without top scorer Jake Young due to Young being on loan from Bradford and being unable to face his parent club. Despite being Swindon's top goalscorer this season, Young has been going through a small goal drought.

Since his brace against Sutton, Young has not scored in any of the four games after and has only one goal contribution in that time being an assist in Towns' 2-2 draw away to Morecambe.

With Charlie Austin and Dan Kemp getting the goals as of late, Swindon may be just fine without Young for one game.

Head to head

Swindon have had the better of the two sides when they have played. The last five meetings between the two have seen Swindon winning twice to Bradfords one win and the two sharing the points twice.

The most recent meeting was a 1-0 win at the County Ground, with Jonny Williams’ goal earning the three points. Bradford last overcame Swindon in 2021 with Bradford coming away victorious in a 3-1 win.

Match Prediction

Bradford have lost two on the bounce and we predict Swindon will inflict another loss on them. As long as Swindon create plenty of chances and are hopefully more clinical this time around.

Bradford City 1-3 Swindon Town
