Marcel Lavinier said Swindon are not panicking about their recent struggles

Marcel Lavinier said that the team are not panicking about their struggles in front of goal and they are still full of belief in their ability to achieve their goals. Total Sport’s Joe Acklam spoke with the defender after the match.

Swindon’s winless run reached four games as they were held at home against Wimbledon, despite controlling much of the match, they failed to breach a sturdy Dons back line.

Lavinier was happy to take the positives of Swindon Town keeping their first clean sheet since October in a 0-0 draw against AFC Wimbledon.

He said: “I think our performances have been good, this is a step in the right direction, we have lost two on the bounce and today we got a draw and a clean sheet.

“So we have to take the positives out of the game, we would all like to win, but as a team we are taking the positives out of it, and that is the clean sheet, how we played, and the chances we created.

“I thought throughout the second half we were playing in their half, we were comfortable moving it about and trying to create chances.

“For us as a team that was a positive performance and a step in the right direction.

“Hopefully we can get a result from Barrow and perform well again to put us right back in the mix.

“All is possible, we are not stressing as a team, we are still relaxed and just working day by day to improve and better ourselves.”

Lavinier was in the starting line-up in the league for the first time since the Sutton United match in September and he said he was pleased to be back helping the team however he can.

He said: “I felt good, obviously I haven’t been playing for a few weeks, but when I went out there I just wanted to do what I know I can do.

“I felt comfortable out there and fresh, so I am happy with how I did.

“That is what you can get from me, I can play on the left and equally on the right, I think I provide different attributes when playing off the left.

“Wherever the gaffer wants me to play, I am happy to play and I will go out there and do a job for him.

“It took me about two weeks to get back up to full fitness after my injury, and then I was just training and keeping my fitness up.

“Then today I got my chance again because the team had been playing well, credit to them, and I feel like I did well.”
