Williams also outlined that there will "probably not" be anymore behind-closed-doors friendlies for the player to prove himself "unless he leaves at the end of the week and comes back at a later date to play.
"We don't want him to be training and travelling for a long period of time, we owe it to the boy to make a decision sooner rather than later."
Talk of the tralist has been whether it is high-profile free agents such as Peter Odemwingie, Tom Hitchcock or Bobby Zamora, all ex-QPR who Town have close ties with, but Williams was not drawn on the history of the player.
"If I am completely honest I don't know the boy's recent contract history. I just know he has some experience of league football and he is currently a free agent."
