Jody Morris said he made no half-time changes as too many players deserved to be taken off

Jody Morris said he felt it would have been unfair to single out one or two of his players for making subs at half-time. Total Sport’s Joe Acklam spoke with the head coach after the 4-2 defeat against Mansfield Town.

Swindon were roundly beaten as goals from Stephen Quinn, Lucas Akins, Rhys Oates, and Hiram Boateng saw Town fail to win for a seventh game in succession.

Morris said that he felt that all of his players’ performances were beneath the standard expected during a disastrous first half and he did not have enough substitutions to change all of them.

He said: “I felt there were times in the first half when it looked like they [the players] were ready to roll over and that is not good enough for anybody.

“We have got fans that have paid money to come and see that was not acceptable.

“There are ways in which you can lose games and that wasn’t good enough in the first half and I let that be known.

“I could probably have changed most of the players at half-time and the only one that comes out with any credit is Rush [Rushian Hepburn-Murphy].

“But I didn’t because it would have been harsh if I only made one or two subs, because of the fact that I didn’t think anybody performed to the level in the first half that they should have done.

“I felt that today was a little bit different today to the run we have been on with the level of performance.

“They were not as bothered as they should have been about being behind in a football game at this stadium in front of our own fans. And that is unacceptable.”
