Jody Morris is determined to get the results he feels Swindon's performances deserve

Jody Morris is determined to make sure Swindon’s results start following their performances after their 1-0 defeat against Stockport County. Total Sport’s Joe Acklam spoke to the head coach after the match.

Jacob Wakeling was sent off after 45 seconds and ten-man Swindon kept Stockport at bay until ten minutes from the end when Ryan Croasdale put beyond Sol Brynn.

Morris still believes that what he is seeing in training will start to translate to the pitch in the near future.

He said: “I would just like to know where the cat was that I ran over, if it was a black cat or something that happened somewhere recently because some of the things they keep going wrong are incredible.

“I think in the last four games we have played, our performances have deserved more than we ended up getting.

“But if that keeps happening then you start wondering if this is the direction that we are heading in.

“The more games go by and we are gifting opportunities to teams then there is clearly something that needs addressing.

“But at the moment it feels like we are going in the right direction and I went into the game feeling really confident and I was excited to watch us play.

“But it all goes out of the window when you concede after 38 seconds.”

Morris said that he felt proud standing on the side-line watching the defensive efforts of his players with ten players.

He said: “The fans deserve huge credit today as they could see the shift the players were putting in and I thought they were class as they allowed us to put in the effort that we did.

“It is a tough one to take as when you are showing up here you want to see an exciting team and watch us hopefully cause Stockport some problems, but instead they had to see us shift across the pitch and restrict chances.

“I was delighted with how the fans were for the players and I think the players absolutely appreciate that.

“But once you've worked that hard, and you're putting in a shift and I was proud of them, I was proud of the work the players did for each other.

They didn't want to concede any open play chances, which is something I've tried to put on to them before the game.

“I tried to tell him that we need to put a statement down as far as set pieces are concerned that we're not vulnerable and then we defended set pieces really well and then we go and concede from our own set piece further up the pitch.”
