Gunning insists more honest chats will be happening with Swindon Town squad

Interim head coach Gavin Gunning instead there would be more honest chats for his Swindon Town squad, as he looked to turn around their poor run of form.

Since the end of November, Town have won just three games from 19 contests, losing 11 times in the process.

Three defeats on the spin have left the County Ground side 19th in the League Two table, with 44 points picked up from 39 games.

Swindon’s next test comes at home against Notts County on Friday, March 29, almost two weeks since their most recent 2-1 defeat against Doncaster.

Asked how important the break in fixtures would be, Gunning, who took charge of the side in January, told the club’s official Youtube Channel:  “It’s good to refresh.

“We will just bash down what we are trying to do on shape, technical stuff, tactical awareness of game situations and a mentality.

“We had an honest chat the other day, It mustn’t have sunk in.

“So we will have to have a few more over the next couple of weeks and have a realism of where we are at.”

Swindon have seven games remaining to finish their campaign. They are currently 11 points above the bottom two in the division.
