Frazer Blake-Tracy wants to start turning his aerial prowess into goals

Frazer Blake-Tracy wants to start scoring goals after he had a disallowed goal in Swindon’s 1-0 win against Colchester. Total Sport’s Joe Acklam spoke to the man on loan from Burton after the game.

Tyrese Shade scored the only goal of the game after coming off the bench when he deflected in Jonny Williams’ cross at the back post.

Blake-Tracy said he was disappointed that he has not yet turned his aerial prowess into goals since joining Swindon.

He said: “We work a lot on set pieces and if you get the ball in the area I like to think that it doesn’t really matter who is in there, I am going to at least get contact on the ball.

“I have set myself a target to get a few goals from set pieces and I have not got one yet, so it is frustrating but hopefully it will come sooner rather than later.

“I asked the ref about it and he said he was going to blow before it even went in the net because Frenchie [Mathieu Baudry] pushed someone, so I was gutted because I have been wanting to score more from set pieces.

“I think it is just about desire to throw yourself at it [why he is so good in the air]. For a lot of players you can be six foot three or six foot four and be bigger than me, but they haven’t got the desire to go and sling yourself at the ball.

“It is my pet hate when a corner goes in and goes all the way out, I can’t stand it, so I always seem to go around the back and head it back in, but I would like to be in the centre so I can actually score goals.”

Blake-Tracy was also pleased that Swindon stood up to the physical test that Colchester posed after going behind.

He said: “A team like that when the game is one-nil they have always got a chance. When you see them bring on big John Akinde, he is always going to be a threat.

“He is going to come on and just flick stuff on, they were already pretty direct but you become even more direct when you bring someone like him on.

“We felt in control of the game but the last 15 we were a little bit anxious and we didn’t control it as well we wanted to, but we managed to get the three points in the end.

“Sometimes you haven’t got to be pretty, if you can get yourself motivated then more often than not we will have enough quality to put teams away.”
