David Flitcroft is enjoying the growing relationship with the travelling Swindon Town support

Swindon boss David Flitcroft has said that the relationship between him and the travelling Town fans is growing by the match.

As a result of Swindon's 2-1 win at Yeovil Town on Saturday, the promotion-chasing Robins have now won seven of their nine away matches in League Two this season.

At the time of writing, Swindon Town have the best away record in the EFL, as they have managed to earn 21 points on the road from a possible 27.

It is hard to decipher whether Swindon have the best away record in the country because Premier League leaders Manchester City have won all of their away matches, but have played three less away games than Town, therefore Pep Guardiola's side have 18 points.

Regardless, it is a stark contract to last season as Swindon only won four of their 23 matches away from the County Ground, which led to their relegation from League One.

Swindon had the second highest away attendance across League Two this weekend as 1,144 made the trip to Huish Park and manager David Flitcroft was quick to thank them following the final whistle.

"I'm really proud of the players and the relationship that's growing with the away support," he said.

"That really felt like the away support really appreciated that performance and the passion the players showed."

Town had to dig deep in Somerset, as they found themselves behind with only four minutes gone, but second-half goals from Kellan Gordon and Keshi Anderson got Town back to winning ways again after last Saturday's draw at home to Chesterfield.

Flitcroft continued: "After [five minutes of] sloppiness, it's the most one-sided game I've been involved with in a long time.

"I think we've passed them off the park, they couldn't get anywhere near us, certainly second half. We moved the ball well [and] created so many chances and how we've gone in at half-time 1-0 down I've not [got] a clue.

"It was a real resilient performance."
