If you don’t have the dollar bills to throw around on professional shoe services and pricey seamstresses, then here’s a few ways you can do it yourself:

Using a sharpie colour over bleach stains, it will blot out the stain instantly.

3. Use a hair straighteners as a collar iron.

They’re the perfect size! However don’t have the heat to high or leave the straighteners on the fabric too long or you may cause damage.

Use an elastic band to link your zipper to your button. A key ring will also do the trick.

5. Use shaving foam to remove make-up stains.

You should washing the clothing after you’ve covered it in shaving foam though.

6. Widen shoes with a hair dryer.

Put on your tight shoes with a pair of thick socks, then blow them with your hairdryer for a few minutes to loosen the tight spots.

7. Talcum powder removes oil stains.

Apply the Talc to the stained area and leave overnight. Washing up liquid can also do the job.

8. Use Vaseline to unstick a zipper.

By greasing up the zip you’ll make it easier to undo.

9. Clear nail varnish will stop a ladder in your tights.

To prevent ladders to start with, spray tights with hairspray. If there’s one already, apply clear nail varnish to each end of the ladder to stop it travelling any further. Clear nail varnish can also stop a button falling off! Just paint some over the thread.

10. Moisturise leather.

If you don’t have shoe polish lying around and don’t want to splash the cash, use moisturiser instead. Vaseline also works wonders.

11. Maintain denim.

If you want to preserve the colour of your denim, skip detergent. Instead, soak it in cold water with one cup white distilled vinegar. Then air dry. The vinegar will maintain your jeans and the odour will evaporate as they dry. Re-dying denim is also a great way to save money.

12. Deodorize shoes with a tea bag.

Place a dry tea bag in each shoe and leave overnight to absorb the smell. Repeat if necessary.

13. Prevent jumper shedding with your freezer.

Does your angora jumper shed everywhere you go? Put it in a sealed bag and pop it in the freezer overnight. This will help lock in the fibres, so shedding stops for good.

14. Soften itchy jumpers.

Soften itchy jumpers by soaking them in warm water with a capful or two of hair conditioner. Rinse and let the sweater air dry.

15. Make Your Canvas Shoes Water Resistant.

Apply solid beeswax all over the shoes then run a blow-dryer over them. Reapply every few months.
