Car Parking in Swindon Town Centre is ‘Free After 3’

Thanks to inSwindon, Swindon Borough Council and the Brunel shopping centre, the Swindon Town Centre is offering FREE parking to visitors over the coming months.

It has now been announced that parking in the Swindon town centre will be on offer between 3pm and 9pm every Thursday from the 5th November to the end of January.

The car parks where the offer will apply are the Brunel North Car Park (Farnsby Street) and Fleming Way (Debenhams) car park.

The free parking is aimed at visitors to the town centre popping into town after the school run or after work, and to encourage visitors to make the most of the town centre’s cafes, bars and restaurants on an evening out without car parking costs.

Di Powell, inSwindon Business Improvement District Manager said: “We hope this makes Swindon a much more attractive proposition to visitors not just from the local area but from further afield. We’re constantly striving to launch new initiatives to increase the town centre footfall by making it a safer, friendlier and a more accessible place to visit.”

Cllr Garry Perkins, Swindon Borough Council Cabinet member for Economy, Regeneration and Skills, "It is important we give the town centre shops and businesses as much support around the peak Christmas and New Year sales period as we can, and I am confident that free parking on Thursdays will be a big incentive to get more people to spend their money with them. It's a good example of the council and business working together for everyone's benefit."
