Barratt strives to Banish Bank Holiday DIY Blues

Maintaining an older home can take a lot of time, energy and money. Following a new survey the low maintenance benefits of owning a new home have been highlighted.

DIY projects are set to top the agenda in Swindon this Easter, research from five star house builder Barratt Homes reveals that despite the fact people would prefer to spend the bank holiday weekend with friends or family, taking part in a leisure pursuit or just relaxing, a large majority of the nation will be getting stuck into a DIY project.

The survey, by One Poll, has highlighted how busy Brits will be working on their homes this Easter, almost 50 per cent of people in Swindon could be spending the four day break on a DIY project. Some projects could end up costing thousands of pounds, and many have the potential for further costly disasters.

In a bid to cut the bank holiday DIY misery Barratt sales director Andrea Pilgrim said the house builder has pledged to help people get their bank holidays back by highlighting the DIY-free credentials of new homes.

“When you move into a brand new home, it’s clean and fresh and there’s no need for expensive and time-consuming renovations or long drawn-out repairs,’’ said Andrea.

Barratt also offers an exclusive five year warranty covering almost everything it fits as standard so you can relax, with no unexpected repair bills to pay for up to five years.

This is in addition to the standard 10-year NHBC warranty, to give you extra peace of mind.

Andrea said that while it was no surprise that DIY does not top the wish list of many she said the scale of disasters was worrying.

“We found that plumbing and electrical disasters were the most common,’’ said Andrea. “And in addition to damaging homes it seems that people are also prone to injury with personal disasters ranging from falling off ladders to drilling into hands.”

Andrea adds that Barratt’s five year warranty comes with 24 hour, 365 day a year emergency cover, so in the unlikely event that something does go wrong, buyers will have trained professionals to deal with it so that you don’t have to.

Barratt currently has a range of developments in the Swindon area including Nightingale Rise and Kingsdown Gate.
