PREVIEW: Swindon Town vs Coventry City
Both Matt Preston and Kyle Knoyle could be in line for their Swindon debuts as Town chase their third win on the bounce when they host Coventry.
Preston only signed on Monday night, as Town needed urgent defensive cover following the long-term injury to Dion Conroy which left them with only two recognised centre-backs.
Knoyle, however, signed way back in the summer, but it was only on Friday night when he was fit enough for the bench, but he was an unused sub at Forest Green.
Another defender, Chris Hussey, is unlikely to feature though after he pulled up with a problem on Friday after taking a free-kick. It is not yet known how long the Sheffield United left-back will be out for.
Matty Taylor replaced Hussey at left-back on Friday but manager David Flitcroft is exploring other options, suggesting midweek that Knoyle or, interestingly, even traditional number 10 Ellis Iandolo has been used there during training this week.
Tom Smith was not mentioned by Flitcroft as a potential option, however the academy graduate put in a fantastic shift there last season at home to Bradford, and was also used as a left-back during Flitcroft's pre-season.
Johnny Goddard did not make the squad at the New Lawn but he is fully fit now too, although lacking match practice.
Both Swindon and Coventry got relegated from League One last season and have made decent starts to their respective League Two campaigns as they both aim to return to the third tier at the first attempt.
Town have won back-to-back matches and currently occupy 7th while the Sky Blues have three wins from their last four games and are just above the Robins in 6th.
Although Coventry's recent form has been impressive, their away record has left something to be desired, as tthey have just the one win from four, however the same can be said of Swindon's home results.
Swindon can also boast the better record between the two clubs in recent years as Town have won three of the last five meetings, with the other two being draws. Coventry have not defeated Swindon in the league since 1964.
In terms of players, Town forward Luke Norris is the joint-third top scorer this season with five in the league, and he has also chipped in with three assists. Jodi Jones is Coventry's top marksman with four goals and two assists.
Swindon can rise as high as third tonight if they win and other results go their way.
