Musielak happy at 'biggest and best club in the UK'

TOBIASZ MUSIELAK expressed his delight at being part of the ‘biggest team in the UK’ as the Swindon Robins travel to the Ipswich Witches tonight in the second leg of their Premiership Supporters Cup tie. Total Sport Swindon’s Ryan Walker spoke to the Polish ace ahead of the meeting.

Entering his third season in Swindon kevlars, Tobiasz Musielak has established himself as a fan favourite amongst the Swindon faithful. Speaking following Monday’s 51-39 victory over Ipswich, the Polish-born racer outlined his delight at being back at the club for another season. 

“If I wasn’t happy I wouldn’t be here and of course I am so happy to be racing at Swindon,” said Musielak.

“I am at the biggest and best club in the UK and I think staying in British speedway was the best option for me.

“It’s difficult to say why more Polish riders don’t want to race here. 

“I was in need of meetings when Rosco brought me to Swindon and I’m looking forward to the future with this team,” he said.

Monday’s victory over Ipswich extended Swindon’s unbeaten run in the Premiership Supporters Cup. However, despite scoring 8+2 in the meeting, Musielak admitted he struggled with the new track at the Abbey Stadium.

“I was struggling and the whole team was struggling a bit,” stated Musielak.

“The last part of the meeting was especially hard and it was a tough meeting for us. 

“The track was tough for us and it was so sandy and patchy. The start was so slick and I couldn’t handle it actually.

“I don’t blame anybody or the track for my performance. I blame myself,” he said.

At just 25 years of age Musielak has seen his speedway career rapidly develop over recent years with the Swindon number five now racing in the elite leagues of both and Britain, Poland. But despite his rise, Musielak remains firmly grounded.

“I don’t think about GP’s now because I know how much money riders need to be in that competition,” said Musielak.

“My goal is to go through the Speedway European Championship finals (SEC) and see what happens.

“We don’t know what will be with the golden helmet yet either but we will see.

“I have been scoring well in Poland so maybe I will get nominated to the SEC I don’t know yet but if I get a call no problem,” he added.
