Morfuni's message to Swindon Town fans after mid-table League Two finish
Owner Clem Morfuni has thanked Swindon Town’s fans for their support, and insisted the team’s second half of the League Two campaign gave “encouragement, momentum, and stability”.
Town found themselves in relegation trouble at the start of the campaign as they sacked head coach Mark Kennedy at the end of October.
They brought in experienced manager Ian Holloway to steady the ship, resulting in a 12th-placed finish in the table.
Holloway has since signed a new three-year deal, along with his coaching staff Marcus Bignot, Steve Mildenhall and Gavin Gunning.
And following Saturday’s 0-0 draw against MK Dons, Morfuni issued the following statement via the club website.
He said: “Firstly, I would like to thank supporters for their incredible support home and away this season, from the first game to the final game this afternoon.
“I want to thank Ian Holloway, his coaching staff, and all of the staff behind the scenes for their dedication and hard work throughout the whole season.
“All of the players that have played for the club this season, whether you played for the club just this campaign or are leaving the club having made a number of appearances for Swindon.
“We acknowledge that this season has not been what we as a club set in our vision for the 2024/25 campaign, and our start up until Christmas was nothing short of disappointing for where I, Swindon Town, or the supporters deserve this fantastic club to be.
“While our start to the season was disappointing, I’m sure we can all agree as Swindon Town supporters that the second half of the season gives us encouragement, momentum, and stability as we look forward to next season.
“With Ian Holloway’s long-term contract and vision, this gives us a perfect opportunity to build together and leave an impact on next season as we stake a claim to be higher in the League Two table.
“Our supporters, on numerous occasions this season, your support at home has been faultless. Your noise and support doesn't go unnoticed. Your away support, noted a number of times by the players and Ian Holloway, has been second to none.
“Up and down the country, Saturdays or Tuesday nights - you’ve been with the team every minute of every game, win, lose, or draw, sun, wind, or rain.
“Once again, we’d like to thank everybody for their support this season, and we look forward to welcoming you back to the Nigel Eady County Ground next season.”
