Improving Swindon Town's home form "will take a lot more work" from boss David Flitcroft
Swindon Town boss David Flitcroft insists he is not majorly concerned by the club's form yet, but is determined to improve upon it immediately.
Following Saturday's 4-1 thumping at home to Barnet, Swindon are without a win in all four home matches they have played so far this season in all competitions.
A 1-1 draw against Exeter City, who reached the League Two play-offs last season, was credible but that has been followed up by three defeats against West Ham under-23s in the EFL Trophy, Crawley, and now Barnet.
Crawley and Barnet in particular have been disappointing both for the level of opposition, and the manner of the defeats, as Town have conceded seven goals in their back-to-back matches at the County Ground.
It means Flitcroft, who was appointed this summer, is still after a win on his new patch. Swindon have also gone behind in every home encounter so far this season.
Referring to the home form, Flitcroft said: "It's not that it concerns me, it's just going to take a lot more work and making sure over that time now if there's any trends and players struggling for that home form.
"I pick the players that can handle it and can handle the expectation and can handle giving the fans what they deserve so, again, it lays firmly at my door to pick a team and a group of players that want to be out there, want to embrace being a Swindon player and performing."
Later, Total Sport asked the Town gaffer if, although still early on, he is starting to see patterns or reasons why Town are still looking for that elusive home win, to which Flitcroft replied: "I think by the end of this week, yes.
"The home form is something that we're working hard to address but it'll be about the mentality or the players wanting to be out there, wanting to perform for the supporters. That'll be the group of players that I'll be picking that take us forward at home."
Flitcroft and the squad do at least have a bit of rest bite from the County Ground as they now have consecutive away matches, however they are at difficult places: Luton and Colchester.
Swindon are now 13th in League Two, one point outside the play-off places and six adrift of top of the table Exeter City.
