Swindon Wildcats get first win on the board

The Swindon Wildcats secured their first win of the season at the third time of asking, as they beat Manchester Phoenix 5-2 at the Link.

Manchester took the lead, however at 1:51 via Edgar Bebris' goal that was assisted by James Neil and Luke Boothroyd.

Swindon turned the game on its head though when Tomasz Malasninski made it 1-1 and then Maxim Birbraer completed the turnaround at 15:09 - he was assisted by Jan Kostal and Ben Davies with 2-1 the score at the end of the first period.

The Phoenix rose from the ashes to tie the game up again though at 13:06 as Roman Malinik got himself on the scoresheet, but he was the last Manchester man to do so as the Wildcats pulled away following that.

It was 3-2 to the hosts at 32:12 through Davies' goal in Powerplay and Malasninski made it a two-goal advantage to the Wildcats at 33:28.

Head Coach Aaron Nell completed the scoring at 59:43 to make it a convincing victory for Swindon.

The Wildcats travel to Hull on Sunday as they aim to make it back-to-back wins.
