Swindon Town head coach Luke Williams left frustrated by stubborn AFC Wimbledon

Swindon Town head coach Luke Williams was cursing the solidity of AFC Wimbledon's defence in Saturday's 0-0 draw against the Dons.

Not for the first time this season, Swindon found it difficult to break down a side that were happy to defend as the Dons sat back and held onto the point as they are clear from relegation danger.

The Robins are now running out of time in their bid to survive relegation, as just three games of the season and Swindon remain in the bottom four, two points adrift of safety.

Speaking after the final whistle, Williams said:

"We didn't create enough, and what bits we did create we didn't manage to score. It's as simple as that. 

"We played in a similar way that we've played in the last four games to probably be defensive more, more than be more attacking and leave ourselves wide open at the back.

"It's great if you score, of course, but it's much more difficult to create things in that manner.

"Of course, when we start to put more players forward, and we worked on a plan B in the week to try and tilt the balance to be more aggressive, but then we left a one-vs-one and have to rely on Lawrence (Vigouroux) to get us out of trouble and it's the gamble we take.

"We are not able to put a lot of players forward and still be secure at the back.

"It's difficult when we're playing against a team that's well set up to defend as well, I don't think they leave you a lot of room to run into.

"We've got pace there - Fanky (Dabo) has got pace, and Jon Obika's got real pace, so I think there's pace in the team but it's having areas of the pitch to exploit with that pace and I think, when the game became more stretched in the second half, you could see Fanky tearing down the channel and Jon had a couple of chances to run at people.

"The opposition are not too easy to create space against."
