ON-THE-BUZZER REPORT: Swindon Wildcats 1-1 Telford Tigers (Wildcats win 2-1 shootout)

A dramatic shootout win got the Wildcats' weekend off to the perfect start.

The match finished 1-1 after the regular time, and overtime, but a 2-1 win in the shootout saw the Wildcats get over the line.

Jonas Hoog and Head Coach Aaron Nell found the net for the hosts in the shootout while netminder Stevie Lyle shone.

Both teams had plenty of chances to get more points on the board during regular play, however more often than not the Wildcats were wasteful while the Telford Tigers were largely toothless when in-front of goal.

Telford took the lead at 25:27 when Jason Silverthorne scored from close range past netminder Stevie Lyle - Sam Zajac provided the assist for the Tigers' goal.

Swindon levelled the game later on in period two via Ben Davies' goal at 38:37 in powerplay from point-blank range after assists by player/coach Nell and fan favourite Hoog.

Davies will play his last match for the Wildcats tomorrow when they make the relatively short trip to Guildford and he said goodbye to the Link Centre tonight with his goal.

Tonight's result means that the Wildcats have won two of their five matches so far this season.
