Doyle: Robins' Thursday Schedule Will Help Me
Swindon Robins top speedway recruit Jason Doyle has admitted that joining a Thursday club will work wonders for his schedule, and as a result will hopefully see him produce some of his best racing.
The Aussie ace makes a welcome return to Blunsdon, where he won the Elite League title in 2012, after riding for Leicester at weekends last season.
And he says he wants to spend more time at home after his diary became too busy towards the end of 2015.
Doyle told speedwaygp.com: “For six months of the season, I wasn’t home for a weekend. You need to have a bit of time at home and rest – not just ride your motorbike at weekends.
"That’s the time I need to see Emily, my partner, and do normal things.
“I think it was good to move to Swindon on a Thursday night. Then I have GP practice on Fridays. You can travel from any airport from Swindon, so there are a lot of advantages.
“I wish people could be in our shoes sometimes and realise that it isn’t the racing side of things that’s tiring; it’s the travelling.
“Pretty much every week from riding at Leicester, I’d go to Stansted Airport and stay there. By the time I got there, it was 12-1am and I’d have to be up at 5am to fly to Bydgoszcz on the early 6am flight.
“Sometimes it was very difficult. I really want to be in these leagues and doing well, but it took its toll in August and September. It just got too busy," Doyle added.
