Runners Aim to Raise Money for Swindon Based Charity Goldenhar

Kirsty Heber-Smith and Pete Dewhirst will join thousands of other runners on the 13th April as they take part in the 2014 Virgin London Marathon. Kirsty and Pete are hoping to raise money, and much needed awareness, for local Swindon charity Goldenhar.

Having taken part in the very first London Marathon back in 1981, Pete is no stranger to the challenge that lies ahead.

“I'm so excited to be running the London marathon again after all these years,” said Pete. “When Kirsty suggested taking up the challenge, as well as trying to raise a penny or two for Goldenhar, I knew I couldn’t think of a better challenge for 2014.”

“With so many people running the marathon, it’s easy to forget how tough it is just to run the distance.” Kirsty added. “however, when we got our ballot places through the post we immediately knew we wanted to give back to a charity that is close to our hearts.

“I've worked with Alan Holmes who’s grandson Morgan was born with the condition and it’s been inspirational to watch the amount of funds raised over the years for this great charity."

We hope that by having the logo on our running clothing we will hopefully raise the awareness of the charity and will help people understand the condition.”

“It’s fantastic to see so many people helping Goldenhar and raising money for the cause, especially as we couldn’t thank them enough for the support for us as a family over the year’s.” added Alan Holmes, Morgan’s grandfather.
