Review: Jane Iredale Makeup

Jane Iredale's mineral cosmetics provide flawless, soothing and easy to apply coverage while caring for skin. It is so effective, the range is recommended by plastic surgeons, dermatologists and skincare professionals and is used by professional makeup artists and worn by celebrities the world over.

So when the lovely ladies at Bloomin Beautiful invited me to review the range, I was intrigued to try it out. Having never used anything from the range before and hearing about it's benefits, I wanted to find out how good it really was. And what better way than having a makeover by their very own Jane Iredale makeup artist, Anisa.

My skin is to say at the least a handful; with a combination of dry patches and oily spots I struggle to find makeup that works for me. Therefore going into the makeover I was hopeful that the Jane Iredale mineral makeup range could offer something that no other brand could - the flawless look everyone desires that will last all day long!

Arriving at the salon, I was introduced to Anisa. She was especially thorough in finding out what issues I have with my makeup and skin and what I didn't like about it, meaning she could tailor the whole session to use makeup that was suitable to my individual wants and needs. Anisa was extremely knowledgeable of the brand and explained exactly what it's all about, and having not heard much about the range before this was very insightful...

I was shocked to find out the chemicals found in some high street makeup brands, such as petrol in mascara, yikes. Yet I was informed by Anisa that the Jane Iredale couldn't be any more different - each product is free of perfume, alcohol, chemical additives and artificial dyes, yet they all offer coverage that traditional makeup can only envy. So as the Anisa started my makeup I was skeptical, could this cosmetics range really be as amazing as it sounds?

Anisa began with the Smooth Affair Primer which she explained would calm the oily parts of my skin and smooth over the dry parts to create an even base for the makeup, it felt great and really moisturising on my skin. Next she applied a tinted moisturiser called Dream Tint, which covered up my imperfections and fixed any discolourations, also it has SPF 15 which is great for protecting the skin and it surprisingly still felt very lightweight on my skin. To add coverage Anisa brushed the Pure Pressed powder foundation all over my face. With me having dry skin, powder foundation is something I've never considered, but I was stunned by how well it went on my skin and it offered me the perfect coverage which is easily buildable.

Now the base was complete, Anisa went on to using the So-Bronze bronzing powder which conveniently was a 2-in-1 bronzer and highlighter. It gave me a natural, sun-kissed healthy glow as well as a contour, bringing structure to my face.

Next is my favourite part of makeup - eyes. Anisa began with the Lid Primer, something I've not used previously, but she clarified that it will brighten the eyes and keep my eye shadow put. She then used an excellent eye shadow trio, "Golden Girl", which she selected as gold tones are great for making blue eyes pop! Anisa was very helpful - I was shown the best method for a smokey eye, where to put the different shades and how to blend them together.

Mascara started with PureLash Extender & Conditioner, a type of makeup I hadn't heard of but it made a noticeable difference to my eyelashes, they appeared much longer and thicker when the mascara was applied.

Anisa continued with filling in my eyebrows with the eyebrow pencil, and I was astounded by the results. Having previously over plucked my brows, to be honest, there's not much left to fill in. But with Anisa using light strokes and slowly building up the colour, they appeared much fuller than before.

To finish was the lips. Personally I never use lip products, I find they smudge off too quickly to even bother. However Anisa used a lip pencil as well as a lip colour, and I was impressed that the colour stayed on until I removed my makeup that night!

So, going back to my previous question, could this cosmetics range really be as amazing as it sounds? Absolutely. The makeup lasted amazingly for the whole day, without needing to touch up once! This is not only thanks to the makeup, but also Anisa, her extensive knowledge of what to use and how to use it made my skin look better than it ever has before. Throughout the whole session I received heaps of amazing advice of how to improve my skin, how to apply makeup and what type of makeup I should be using and I left with a helpful list of products that Anisa recommended for me to improve my skin.

For that reason if you have problems with your skin and makeup, need help choosing exact foundation that suits you, advice on cosmetics or can't get a grasp for eye makeup; whatever your makeup dilemma, I recommend for you to book an appointment at the Bloomin Beautiful salon. They can focus on the specific area of makeup that you need advice with, and using their wide range of Jane Iredale makeup they can definitely find something to suit you.
