Broome Manor in Drive for New Golfers

A week of free coaching and fun competitions is being held at Broome Manor Golf Complex to encourage new players to try the game.

The club, which is owned by Swindon Borough Council, is holding its Golf Open Week from Monday, 24th March to Sunday, 30th March.

The aim of the open week is to reach out to beginners with the offer of a free coaching session from one of the club’s PGA professionals.

A series of bookable coaching sessions will be held from Monday to Thursday aimed at various groups. On the Monday there are sessions for adults and families between 6pm and 7pm and between 7.15pm and 8.15pm.

On Tuesday , a seniors and ladies session will be held between 10am and 12noon, while on the Wednesday there will be further coaching for adults and families between 6pm and 7pm and 7.15pm to 8.15pm.

Corporate coaching slots will be held on the Thursday from 6pm to 7pm and between 7.15pm and 8.15pm.

On the Saturday , the golf complex will host a corporate 9-hole Texas scramble event, while the following day, there will be an adult and junior fun event.

Broome Manor will also host follow-up coaching sessions at a discounted rate for those that attend Golf Week.

Cllr Keith Williams, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways, Strategic Transport and Leisure, said: “The Golf Open Week is the perfect chance to try out golf in a fun and friendly environment.

“I would encourage anyone who wants to give golf book themselves a place on one of the free coaching sessions on offer as it is a great sport to play.”
