Snapped: Swindon Hooter
The Swindon Hooter was set off loud and proud once again to break it's silence of 30 years.
The famous Great Western Railway Works Hooter; originally a large bell that would encourage the workers to get to their jobs on time and warn wives their husbands would be home soon, would ring loud and at intervals every day. It soon lacked the volume to reach afar and a new device was installed, the hooter.
After it blew in 1986, many feared they would never hear it again. Until now, the hooter has once again been set off for all to hear!
