Local Cake Maker Shortlisted for National Award

Owner of interactive cupcake design company, Samantha Whittingham is one of the lucky 100 start-up business owners to be shortlisted in The Pitch 100 awards.

Presented by BusinessZone.co.uk and UK Business Forums in association with AVG, the nationwide competition aims to support thousands of entrepreneurs from around the UK.

Each business shortlised is guaranteed to benefit from the fantastic networking and learning opportunities that being part of The Pitch has to offer.

Prizes on offer include two years of CloudCare services from AVG, mentoring from award winning serial entrepreneur Karen Darby and a Nokia Lumia 2520.

Since setting up Little Miss Cake Maker earlier this year, Samantha Whittingham has gone from strength to strength. 

Samantha's cute a kitsch website (LittleMissCakeMaker.com) is a fun and easy way to order customised cakes. The interactive online shop gives customers as much creative freedom as they need, to make perfect cupcakes. 

Cakes can be ordered in minutes for local delivery, and bake at home kits and baking supplies can be ordered for delivery worldwide. 

Following a round of bootcamps in London and Manchester this September, Samantha along with her fellow finalists will pitch to a live audience, including judges, investors and supporters at the grand final of the competition in October.

Speaking about her recent nomination, Samantha said “It was amazing to hear that I'd made it through to the top 100 businesses in the UK, it’s completely spurred me on to keep going with my creative and ambitious plans for my business.

I'm a local business at the moment but it's always been my aim to develop a national brand and this is going to be an amazing opportunity to take my business to the next level. I've only had a quick look so far but there looks like some great brands and businesses in the running - I expect it'll be a tough battle but I'm so excited and looking forward to seeing how far I can get!"
