The Town Gardens is a favourite of ours for many reasons. The beautifully landscaped garden is conveniently located in the heart of Old Town and makes a perfect place for a picnic. Bring your blanket and find a spot between the beautiful blossom trees, seasonal flowers and plenty of space to roam around. The little ones will love watching the little budgies in the aviary roam around (next to the fountain) too!

Coate Water Country Park

Coate Water

Coate Water is one of Swindon’s best picnic spots for many reasons. From feeding the ducks to splashing around in the splash park, there’s plenty to do once you’ve had your fill on picnic treats. There are plenty of lovely spots around the lake you can settle down and enjoy a picnic in the grass with all the family!

You’ll never be short on picnic space at Lydiard Park! The most popular spot for a picnic is on the lawn in front of the house overlooking the gorgeous lake. There’s so much open space so don’t forget to take any fun ball games you love to play! There is also a café nearby selling ice creams and other sweet treats to keep your energy levels high!

The Lawns Swindon

The Lawns

The Lawns is a huge park located just off of the popular High Street in Old Town in the gardens that used to belong to the Goddard’s with so much open space. There are plenty of trees to shelter under on hot days, and lots of greenery for little ones and dogs to run around and play in. There are also two lakes at the very bottom of the park which make a lovely spot to enjoy a picnic.

Barbury Castle Swindon

You can’t beat a picnic up at one of the highest points in Swindon - the views over Swindon and Wiltshire are spectacular! There is a picnic site conveniently located right next to the car park with plenty of picnic benches to make the most of. You can also walk off your picnic afterwards with a leisurely walk around the historic site!
