Two New Recruits for Growing IT Business

IT provider Sensata has recruited two members to the team to cope with increasing demand from new and current clients.

Based in Royal Wootton Bassett, Sensata has taken on experienced IT technician Luke Sampson and also IT apprentice technician James Hibdige.

Luke, 35, from Oakhurst, Swindon, started his IT career after college, where he took a GNVQ in IT. He worked as an in-house technician first for the former Princess Margaret Hospital, then at a Swindon accountancy practice. His most recent role before joining Sensata was as an IT technician for a Cirencester-based marketing company.

Luke, who in his spare time enjoys swimming and travelling, said: “Working for Sensata is very different to what I am used to but I am enjoying the challenge.

“When I was employed by a company to look after its own IT, I was dealing with one IT system. With Sensata, I am now dealing with multiple IT systems for Sensata’s many clients. I am really enjoying the team aspect of the work, and we all support each other.”

James, 21, is from Southampton and lives in Royal Wootton Bassett with his partner Abbie. He is the second apprentice Sensata has invested in. James is doing so well that he completed his Level 3 diploma in IT well ahead of schedule and now plans to work towards his Level 4.

“When I left school I went to college and studied business and IT, but then took a part-time job in Sainsbury’s, which became fulltime and I was on their team leadership programme,” said James. “But I really wanted to have a career in IT so I took the apprenticeship through 3aaa and they found me the position with Sensata. I am really enjoying it and fitting in well. From my retail experience, I get on and am used to dealing with different people and I think that’s an advantage.”

Sensata Technical Director Chris Griffin said both Luke and James are great assets. He said: “Luke is very experienced, so has hit the ground running. James has huge potential and we are delighted to have him as our second apprentice. At Sensata we believe in nurturing talent.”
