A unique specialist technical college providing engineering education for 14-19 year olds.
The state funded UTC, works in partnership with industry and education partners to provide students with the technical skills and knowledge they’ll need to progress on to university, an apprenticeship, or a successful career.
Engineering is very broad and it also involves knowledge and skills in business and enterprise.
The four main branches, recognised by the Engineering Council, are:
- Chemical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Electrical/Electronic Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
These branches bring together Materials, Process, Environmental, Structural, Computer Systems, Control, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Automotive, Automation, Energy, Industrial, Motorsport, Nuclear, Systems, Safety & Reliability, etc.
At UTC Swindon students will practise engineering in the world of work through commissions and work placements, influenced by local employers. A group of local employers is supporting the UTC and they will be directly involved in organising and planning these opportunities to achieve balance across the various branches of engineering.
