Swindon Wildcats part ways with Carlo Finucci

Swindon Wildcats' Canadian import Carlo Finucci will not be extending his stay in Wiltshire, after Aaron Nell deemed the energetic forward surplus to requirements going forward, and opted not to place the offer of a contract extension on the table.

Carlo, 29, teamed up with the Wildcats during October 2015 under former player-coach Stevie Lyle and quickly became a firm fans' favourite, putting up 30 goals and 19 assists for 49 points in 43 appearances last term.

Speaking about not opting for the import’s services this coming season, Aaron said: "I'd like to thank Carlo for his time in Swindon and wish him well in his future career.

"This is a decision that wasn't taken lightly - Carlo is a very good player and person and is obviously a fans' favourite, but I've decided to go in a different direction with our last two import slots."

A product of the Burnaby Bulldogs youth system, Carlo has plied his trade for Port Coquitlam Buckaroos, Burnaby Express, University of Alaska-Fairbanks, Las Vegas Wranglers, Evansville Icemen and Rungsted before arriving in Wiltshire and he leaves the Link Centre with the best wishes of everyone at the club.

Concluding, Aaron said: “Carlo has plenty to offer and it goes without saying that I wish him well as he moves on.”
