Swindon Wildcats announce the addition of Daniel Brabon as Netminding Coach for the upcoming season
Swindon Wildcats are thrilled to announce we have added to their off-ice coaching staff with the addition of Daniel Brabon as Netminding Coach for the upcoming season.
Dan began his coaching career with the Cardiff Junior Devils working with beginners and Junior GB internationals. Eventually Dan got his break working with GB international Ben Bowns at the Cardiff Devils and has been working with him ever since, helping him to three trophies with the Devils last season. Whilst Dan will remain working with the Devils, he will be coaching both Renny Marr and Matt Smital at the Wildcats. Player Coach Aaron Nell is thrilled to be working alongside Dan this coming campaign:
“When we found out about Stevie, we thought it was important to invest in our goalies and invest in Dan. He is the goalie coach in Cardiff [Devils], they have two good British goalies in Ben Bowns and Tom Murdy, and he is confident he's going to be able to help ours. There is not enough goalie coaches around and Dan is one of the better ones in the country.
With the two young goalies, it was important to get them some guidance. I can give them personal guidance but I cannot give them technical advice, which Dan will be able to do. I think Dan is going to be a very important part of our club next year.”
Speaking ahead of beginning work in Swindon, Dan is extremely excited to be linking up with Aaron and the Wildcats:
“'Talking to Aaron, and talking about the vision he had for the Wildcats, it was a really easy opportunity for me to accept. I have been involved with the Cardiff Devils organisation for the last three seasons and I think I was the exception, now we are at a point where goalie coaches will become commonplace in a lot of teams."
"Despite the changes in the hockey landscape this summer, Aaron's passion to get the best possible product for Wildcat fans is obvious, and with it help develop British goaltending and his team. You can see that just by his willingness to bring in guys like Renny and Matt but also to support them."
"I also loved his willingness to let me be involved with the juniors in Swindon too as I recognise how important a part they play and was something that really appealed to me after the success we have had in Cardiff with our junior goalies. This role allows me that and it is that combination that made this a no brainer for me. I look forward to helping them achieve their goals for the season ahead!”
