Swindon Town goalkeeper Will Henry hard at work in the off-season

Goalkeeping understudy Will Henry is already putting in the hard yards to ensure next season is even better than the last for him personally.

Youth cdemy graduate Henry is Swindon's number two goalkeeper, behind player-of-the-season award winner Lawrence Vigouroux, but despite relegation, the 2016-17 season had plenty of highlights for Henry on a personal level.

The 18-year-old goalkeeper played three first-team league games, against Bury, Sheffield United and Charlton but his finest moment came in the EFL Trophy penalty shoot-out win over Oxford.

"Now the season has finished, we’ve all been given off-season programmes to follow and that has started right away," Henry said, speaking to the club website.

“We’ve got the right amount of rest in order to recover from the season just gone and we just need to make sure we’re as fit as possible and in the best possible shape for when we start pre-season.

“You’ve always got to be doing your best, working hard and proving that you’re good enough to play.

“That’s definitely my mindset and I just want to be in the best shape possible in the off-season so that I can give myself the best possible chance coming into pre-season.

“Last season was definitely an experience for me. A lot of good came out of it and a lot of bad came with the good but that is football at the end of the day and that is something you have to deal with.

“To experience those types of situations is only going to help me moving forward, especially at my age, so hopefully I can progress, develop and really kick-on.

“There are areas of my game that I can work on but that is the same for everyone so I like to keep working on everything because you can always improve in every aspect of your game.”

“Things change in football all the time and there will obviously be a new manager coming in now, so everyone has to work hard and make sure that they do their best.

“Everyone needs to push hard for a place in the team and I’ll certainly be doing that.”
