Swindon did not get the luck with the big decisions - Jody Morris

Jody Morris felt that the luck was just not with Swindon with decisions as they drew 0-0 at home against Barrow. Total Sport’s Joe Acklam spoke with the head coach after the match.

Swindon managed to control much of the game against a Barrow side competing for the play-offs, but they were unable to breach the Cumbrians rear guard.

Morris felt that Swindon did well in controlling the game but are still working on making more of the situations they create, but were denied a clear penalty.

He said: “I felt that we had a lot of control and possession, you want to create more chances, but we did get the best chance with Jonny [Williams].

“If he wasn’t such an honest lad then he could have gone down and the chance just runs away from him after he tried to stay on his feet.

“Then we were denied a definite penalty with Rush [Hepburn-Murphy] in the second half.

“All you are hoping for, especially when you are on a run like we are and the lads are low on confidence, is that you get the decisions that you deserve.

“If you have the best chance at home and have a blatant penalty that isn’t given, then I think you have to take the positives.

“We just lacked that quality, but it is an ongoing process to try and get those little things a little more slick or get the players to make the right decision at the right time.

“The lads will be disappointed with that, but I wasn’t in the mood for bringing anything negative into the dressing room at half-time or full-time.”

Morris also felt that his team did a much better job of preventing the opposition from counter attacking than they have done in previous weeks.

He said: “We have had in other games that we have played where we controlled it, but when there is a mistake or a turnover that we are not properly set-up to nullify the other team and I felt we were much better at that today.

“Even though there were still mistakes and poor decisions on the ball, I felt our reaction to close the ball down in dangerous areas was better.

“The way Barrow set-up it allows your full backs to keep control without overcommitting, which could leave us open at the back, and Frazer [Blake-Tracy] got those distances right today.”
