PREVIEW: SWINDON TOWN V CAMBRIDGE UNITED

SWINDON TOWN will look to shake off a disappointing weekend result as they take on Cambridge United under the floodlights of The County Ground tonight. TotalSport Swindon’s Ryan Walker previews the action.

In the aftermath of Saturday’s draw, tonight’s game presents Phil Brown and his squad the perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways against a Cambridge side that sit just two points off the bottom of the League Two table.

With a record of eight back-to-back wins over the University City since 1977, Swindon Town will head into tonight’s fixture as favourites. Despite being without a win in their last five league games.

Recent results for tonight’s visitors see them without a win since the start of September, and only two victories since the start of the season. However, a hard-fought weekend draw against Yeovil Town will give Joe Dunne’s side confidence going into tonight’s match.

Similarly, Swindon Town will be hoping that tonight’s game can get them back on track for a playoff charge. Having only scored one goal from their last five league outings, tonight’s game provides a platform for goals against a Cambridge team that has conceded twenty-seven goals this season.

Michel Doughty will be hoping to get another stint of ninety minutes under his belt on return from injury, whilst it will be interesting to see whether Brown drops the out-of-form Marc Richards and instead opts for Kaiyne Woolery to lead the line.

A clear-out of the treatment room for Swindon Town sees Chris Robertson remain as the cubs only injury concern, whilst Cambridge will be without Brad Halliday, Harrison Dunk, and Jabo Ibehre through respective suspension and injury.

Tonight’s League Two fixture will be understandably be overshadowed by the Champions League fixtures taking place across Europe. But for Swindon fans, this game presents a real chance to get back to early season form as the Robins push for promotion.
