PREVIEW: MORECAMBE V SWINDON TOWN

SWINDON TOWN travels to Morecambe later today as Phil Browns Robins look to get their first away win of the season. TotalSport Swindon’s Ryan Walker previews the upcoming game.

Three points from their last three league matches leave Swindon 12th in the table with nine points from the clubs first six games. In contrast, Morecambe have endured a terrible start to the season having only three points to their name and one win all season, a 1-0 home victory over Northampton.

After a week's worth of rest and recovery for STFC, both squads will be fully primed for the match. And for Town, a trip down to the seaside club may present them with their best opportunity to get back to winning ways.

Having played each other five times Swindon remains unbeaten against the Shrimps, winning four and drawing once, their latest encounter ending 1-1 at The County Ground last season. But with Jim Bentley’s Morecambe crucially needing to get league points and move away from the bottom of the table, Saturdays ninety minutes will certainly be a hotly contested affair.

Michael Doughty will be eager to get back on the scoresheet having scored five goals this season and against a weak Morecambe defence that has conceded fourteen goals, scoring chances will almost certainly appear for the playmaker. Whilst Elijah Adebayo will be hoping his last-minute equaliser against MK Dons will be enough to force his way back into the Town starting XI.

However, with the hosts having only scored three league goals since the season opener, with two of those coming in their latest 3-2 defeat to Bury, it’s difficult to see where Morecambe’s goals will come from.

Today’s game is a big match for both sides with each team needing a win for different reasons, but one thing for sure is that Swindon will be hoping this is their chance to make inroads at the top of the table.
