PRESS CONFERENCE LIVE: Swindon Town v Salford City

Good morning and welcome back to another Press Conference Live blog as Swindon Town prepare to welcome Salford City to the County Ground tomorrow afternoon. Total Sport Swindon's Ryan Walker will be joined by Swindon Head Coach, Ben Garner from 8.25am to preview the upcoming League Two encounter.

8:59AM

Thank you for joining us, that concludes today's press conference.

8:59AM

Garner on relationship with Chippenham:

"We've seen it on a daily basis and those who have seen Ricky Aguiar grow daily it doesn't come as a surprise where he hasn't been in the team and then comes in and it looks like a huge transformation. It has been an ongoing process and the loans at Chippenham work very well.

"We have had Ricky and Harry Parsons, now Harrison Minturn is doing very well there at the moment and Mo Dabre is going there today ready to play for them tomorrow. It is great experience, a good level, and we know they will be looked after there. It has been really beneficial and something that has helped us this season."

8:57AM

Garner on formation change to 4-3-3:

"We have had a change in shape for the last 3 games but we have done that throughout the season. We started the season playing a back four and then adjusted to suit the players and have adjusted now to suit the players we have got without going away from our style and the way we look to play.

"The dynamic of the team changes, individuals change your dynamic and we are trying to find a way that best suits us to win games and gets the best out of our players."

8:55AM

Garner on Salford's financial backing:

"It's a tough division and every game is difficult. The amount of effort that goes into every game is very high. From their perspective [in terms of having a big budget to help promotion] I can't say but for us every game is a challenge. The bigger the budget and more financial backing you get I would expect to do better. If you said to me here is more money then I would expect to do better but that's just our perspective."

8:48AM

Garner on contract extensions:

"That's ongoing all the time and it's made more complicated by the embargo but all being well we will be out of that at the end of the season."

8:48AM

Garner on Jack Payne recovery process:

"I think for any player when they are injured there is frustration. He is a top professional and is still ahead of schedule. He understands his body and the importance of taking the time to get it right. He is still a huge influence in our dressing room."

8:45AM

Garner on Salford change in style:

"They are looking up the division but as are we. They are very organised and have one of the best defensive records in the league. They can play direct and that gives them a different dynamic. Our focus is on us and we need to make sure we work to nullify their threats."

8:44AM

Garner on Bradford appointment of Mark Hughes:

"It's an interesting appointment that's for sure. He has done very well at a higher level but it is about what happens on the pitch. We will look at their game following Saturday and look forward to going there. I think every manager has to adjust and that is part of the challenge of any job undertaken."

8:42AM

Garner on playoff position:

"We want to be in those positions and be as high up as we can. We have secured safety so that remit is done and now we can enjoy the rest of the run in. That is credit to everyone at this football club and there is a real togetherness behind the scenes. That is really important and everyone deserves and enormous amount of credit."

8:41AM

Garner on Salford:

"It was a hard-fought 1-0 win there and they are a very well backed team. There has certainly been a change in style and they will have playoff ambitions. They have recruited in January and Matt Smith gives them a focal point up top. We are very aware of the challenge they may pose and will play our game."

8:40AM

Garner on Davison and Simpson"

"They are very different players. Tyreece preferred to play in a front two whereas Josh can play on his own. He gives us that platform and can also run in behind. His movement his very good and he is getting a run of games now and I think he will do very well between now and the end of the season."

8:38AM

Garner on last 3 games:

"They have given a little bit of confidence and there is a really good determination to attack the remaining games, play with bravery and courage and we will continue to do that. I think the strengths and the balance before Christmas is very different to now and a certain system, certain way of playing, certain relationships can be very different with just once change let alone five or six."

8:36AM

Garner on Tuesday night:

"The players are in a good place but we now what we want to achieve. We enjoyed post-game Tuesday but there was a message that preparing for Salford starts following that in terms of training, nutrition, and everything else.

"We maintain that balance and consistent approach and mentality wise we are in a really good place. It's important we take confidence from Tuesday but Saturday is a completely different game."

8:35AM

Garner on injuries:

"We have no fresh injuries, Dion Conroy is available. Jack Payne is still improving and making good progress. For the injury he is still ahead of schedule but he was ahead of schedule quite early and now it is just. taking a bit longer. He was in a much better place yesterday in terms of positivity and coming through the session. He will come into some more contact training now and next week and get him to a stage where he is happy with every game situation.

"Ben Gladwin was a Grade 2 hamstring injury. We will rehab that and get him back as soon as we can."

8:32AM

Ben Garner has now joined us.
