Website 0330 002 1993That is all from today, we will be back tomorrow to cover the Sutton game as it happens and with all the classic match action.
Quick summary of what I asked, before you can hear the full audio on LSPOD tomorrow. Questions about taking shots outside the box and whether they wanted this delay between games after a disappointing result:
Scott Lindsey on where the team are:
We are ready and prepared that is for sure. We have analysed Sutton and done the preparation on them. We are more than ready.
Scott Lindsey on taking risks:
You look at the Gillingham game, we probably should have gone for it sooner than we did. We had to be more aggressive immediately after the sending off and afterwards it became harder. We have spoken and done loads of sessions on pulling the trigger when the opportunity presents itself.
Scott Lindsey on Lewis Ward:
We know he is a good goalkeeper and have been able to see him up close. Let's hope he doesn't play. Whether he plays or not we have to get on with it.
Scott Lindsey on cancellation:
We felt we prepared really well for Newport and were in a good place to play it. We move on and we are now ready for Sutton.
Scott Lindsey on loans:
It is important for them to get game time and with the PJT not every week so it was best for them to play men's football every week. The level is really good and they train with them when they can and then still train with us the rest of the time. It is very important that we still get to see monitor them and ensure we know how they are doing.
Scott Lindsey on combating Sutton:
It is League Two and we have to come across these kinds of teams a lot, but they can be very good on the ball as well. It is a different challenge but one we are looking forward to.
Scott Lindsey on Will Randall:
I coached him in the youth team and was surprised he fell into Non-League after Wolves as it didn't work out for whatever reason. He is a really good player who carries the ball well and could win a game on his own. He has athleticism and skill, as well as determination and will have a good career.
Scott Lindsey on Sutton's style:
They are still a real in your face side, who try and get the ball forward, but also some guile with players like Will Randall, who we know well. They also defend well and restrict space, so it will be a difficult game.
Scott Lindsey on injuries:
Still only Adeloye injured.
Scott Lindsey on the break helping:
I think the down time away helps them to reset and helps us to get going properly today. I think we have played 9 games in 6 weeks and even though it is early it was a rare chance to get some time off.
Scott Lindsey on schedule:
We spoke before things changed to make sure there was a plan if the game got postponed. We were preparing for the game on the training pitch when I got a call telling me it was off. So we changed the session completely and it became a conditioning session. We felt that it became an opportunity to work them hard on Friday and then have a two-day rest, which we don't get often. We have been back in today and prepared for Tuesday.
Interestingly the delay this time is due to Andrew Hawes being late to the meeting, but we should be underway in a minute or so.
No player today, as is traditional on Mondays, so just Lindsey content.
Tomorrow will also see the rather swift return of Lewis Ward to the County Ground following his deadline day switch to The U's. Ward was not even included on the bench two Saturdays ago in the only game they have played since his move, so it could prove to be his debut for his new club.
Tomorrow night Swindon will be facing 11th placed Sutton, who are 3 points ahead of Town in the table right now and have the joint second best defensive record in the league, 6 conceded, sharing that title with multiple teams which includes Swindon. If you are expecting a high scoring game then I might suggest tempering your expectations.
We did have some updates today, of course, but I would assume that Lindsey's thoughts on yet another potato print inspired third shirt will probably not come up.
It is more likely that we get some chat about the two players heading off on loan, with Minturn and Massey both heading to the National League South.
Good afternoon everyone, hope you are excited for football to be back. I for one would rather not have another weekend with no football to cover, although Leipzig vs Dortmund was a reasonable game. I will be joining the Teams call in a few minutes and we will be speaking to Lindsey about all things Sutton. This could be an interesting one journalistic-ally given nothing has happened since we last spoke with him.
