Website 0330 002 1993That is all from today as it is a no player Monday. See everyone for the game tomorrow.
A summation of my questions about playing Newport after a big result and the balance of the front three
Scott Lindsey on Massey:
He is back with us. It was a mix up as to why he didn't play, we don't know why he wasn't, but he is back. Because of our contacts we can send him back out, but we will keep him for a few weeks to make sure he is ok and around the squad.
Scott Lindsey on the impact on MacDonald:
I hope it doesn't impact things at all as we have depth their and we do a lot of work with everyone, including those who don't play.
Scott Lindsey on Newport's big result:
That game shows how if you are not at your best then anybody can win at this level. We can't look at any game and think it will definitely be a win. That is how it is in League Two, so we need to do things properly every time. We won't move away from our style and we also have to dig in at times and I think these players can do both of those things.
Scott Lindsey on Newport's defensive record:
We looked at their game and we want to make sure that we create chances against all teams and be aggressive in the final third and have that nous to create those chances.
Scott Lindsey on Newport:
They had a big result at the weekend against Leyton Orient. Their confidence must be high after that and have some top attackers. I think they can be physical and play long, their strikers will compete for balls and the wide players play into that.
Scott Lindsey on players speaking to refs:
There is a case of managing refs better, good and bad. I want to cut out petulance, but we also need to manage the games better. We don't seem to claim fouls very well, we get up and carry on and don't indicate that we think things are fouls. I felt Iandolo was fouled in the lead up to their winner and all the players agreed today but no one acted that way.
Scott Lindsey on Jephcott:
He was feeling his groin a bit, but that was precautionary and with Shade on the bench we felt it was the right thing to do.
Watching the game back I felt we had moments where we got in good areas but didn't do the right things at the end. We had the same amount of chances and probably better quality than they did. I know I said afterwards we didn't do enough to win, but we did have the chances to do so watching the game back.
I had 16 clips of where we have gotten to the final third and then the action petered out, and we need to make that count.
Scott Lindsey on replacing MacDonald:
We have to look at having a leader on the pitch. We feel Gladwin is that and others lead by example but we need one at the back.
Scott Lindsey on injuries:
MacDonald is not great news, he has dislocated his collarbone, too early to know the time frame but they are hopeful he won't have to have an operation. Not great news. Clayton is fine and good to go. There was a good three or four minutes where MacDonald stayed on with that. Baudry had an illness going into the game, so we removed him from the squad but is now absolutely fine. We have good numbers at CB, so we move on and pick the team accordingly.
Here we go confirmed.
Not quite sure what the delay is, but I am still waiting.
Just waiting to be admitted into the call and we will be underway.
Given the short turnaround between the Northampton game and this one, the injury issues that Swindon had on Saturday- Jephcott, Clayton, and MacDonald all had some level of discomfort- Lindsey may have to make several changes to the line-up.
It is all of a sudden an interesting time to take on Newport as following a four game winless run, James Rowberry's men became the first team to beat Leyton Orient in the league this season.
Here we go again! Swindon are finally going to be playing Newport and Scott Lindsey will be speaking to us over Teams in the next few minutes.
