PRESS CONFERENCE LIVE: Swindon v Colchester United

Live updates as Scott Lindsey speaks to the press ahead of Swindon Town welcoming Colchester United to the County Ground in League Two. Total Sport's Joe Acklam reports live from the press conference.

3:36PM

Saidou Khan on being close to suspension:

I think you have to forget about it, if I am playing a game and I am thinking about it then I won't go into challenges. You have to live in the moment as it could make a big difference.

3:34PM

Saidou Khan on his position:

I was always a 6 as a young player, but at Chesterfield and Maidstone I moved forwards, so I am happy to play anywhere in midfield.

3:33PM

Saidou Khan on his initiation:

When I try and sing they tell me to stop because I am very bad. I think it was Westlife, I can't remember the song.

3:33PM

Saidou Khan on The County Ground:

I have been enjoying it. We have a good group of players and training is great and when I am on the pitch I enjoy it.

3:32PM

Saidou Khan on mood:

We have always been positive because it is a long season. We haven't started the season badly, we need to keep going and we can get there.

3:32PM

Saidou Khan on Stevenage:

I think we started off poorly, watching it again we gave the ball away more than five times and corners and free kicks. We got hit on the counter a lot, so we needed to better on both sides of the ball. We struggled with their physicality.

3:25PM

I asked about crossing too much and Iandolo's position:

  • We need to be more efficient in where cross from and not putting it in to Jephcott and making it tough
  • We see Iandolo as an attacking player and he is very good on the left-wing, but he is very good in a lot of places. So horses for courses.
3:19PM

Scott Lindsey on not losing back-to-back:

I am very confident it will continue because of the group. The players have that belief and have that they can bounce back.

3:17PM

Scott Lindsey on new manager challenges:

I do believe in an initial impact, they lost his first game but have won two since. Initially first game was probably too soon to make an impact but with a full week he did do so. It is hard to know what their style is, that takes a bit longer but he will have plans and I definitely believe it is hard to play against teams with a new manager.

They have experienced players so I don't look at them as lacking understanding. We have watched them so there is an idea, but it is difficult. We know what we need to do better and have worked on that.

3:15PM

Scott Lindsey on Women's game:

A bit of history as I think it is the first time we have hosted them on the same day and I should stick around and watch.

3:15PM

Scott Lindsey on loan players:

We are monitoring them and they train with us and their clubs, so we are looking after them.

3:14PM

Scott Lindsey on FA Cup draw:

I really enjoyed it last season and it would be great if we could replicate it. I have always enjoyed being involved in it and hopefully we can progress through it.

3:13PM

Scott Lindsey on injuries:

Wakeling and Williams are good to go.

MacDonald met with a consultant so he will settle down for three weeks and then have an injection to enhance his rehab, wait to let that settle and then get on with rehab. Eight to twelve weeks is a rough timeline, but knowing our medical staff it could be sooner.

Adeloye is back in full training and back in contention. We have the Bristol game next week which he can be included in, but more likely he will a part of that, likely around 20 minutes.

3:12PM

Scott Lindsey on churn since last time:

We are learning on the job because we are a new group and we have showed signs of progression and we have debriefed last game. You have to give them credit because they were experienced and made it difficult, but we needed to better. The lads know that and so do the staff and we need to put that right.

3:11PM

A lot of normal Scott Lindsisms going on now about positivity.

3:10PM

Scott Lindsey on Colchester:

New manager, he has had three games in charge and they had a good result against Harrogate. It is early to gauge the transition but we are concentrating on us and making sure we will be spot on on the day.

When you are thrown in during the season you have to make an impact right away. I find it hard to gauge that at this stage, but they have good players and it should be interesting.

3:08PM

Scott Lindsey on not having a shot on target:

We haven't changed training, because we are constantly working on actions in the final third. We are second for shots and first for shots outside the box, so we do normally have a threat. We are tenth for goals scored, which is about right for what we have done, but we need to turn possession into goals.

Darcy does like to pull the trigger, but he took too many potshots on Saturday. Against Newport they were from good positions but on Saturday they were from unrealistic positions.

3:07PM

Scott Lindsey on Stevenage:

Like I said after the game, I was disappointed. For me it was our worst performance, we didn't create anything or carry any threat. Looking at the stats we had 70% possession, but that may as well be 30% for all the good it did. Their goal rushed us a bit and we had no composure in the final third. It is disappointing, but it happens and I see it as a bump in the road.

3:03PM

Good afternoon everyone, a bit of a late start but Lindsey will be with us shortly.
