PRESS CONFERENCE LIVE: Swindon v Bradford City

Follow along with live updates as Jody Morris speaks to the press ahead of Swindon Town's clash with Bradford City. Total Sports' Joe Acklam reports live from the press conference.

12:46PM

I asked Morris about Charlie Austin's fitness and why Tomi Adeloye has been excluded from the squad:

  • He is one of a few players who are a bit sore and we will be looking at if he can play in the next day
  • Jephcott has seemed more committed to the club and wanting to give everything than Adeloye
12:40PM

Jody Morris on Bradford:

They get after the ball more and higher up the pitch. They can leave gaps which we are looking to exploit. They are confident and experienced and will be coming here to win. They are very much 4231 and that has served them well. You can nullify them by looking after the ball better than we have done and we will need to up that again as they will punish you if you make mistakes. That is what they want to do. Hopefully we can vary our game and cause problems.,

12:38PM

Jody Morris on Brewitt and Clayton:

They are going to have to be really at it. They did well at weekend, especially aerially, and we haven't always done that. Cook is a striker in really good form, an experienced character who can use his body well and they have to be up for the challenge. Sometimes you need to know when to challenge for a header, knowing when you will be second favourite for it and not taking yourself out of the game. They will have to be good at that because Cook is really good in the air.

12:36PM

Jody Morris on Dworzak:

He has had an illness since I have come in. He trained with me early on but has had problems physically and that is why he hasn't been with us. He is one the club value that I haven't seen too much.

12:35PM

Jody Morris on Hughes:

It is my first former team mate I have managed against. He was great when I came through at Chelsea. He played at some huge clubs and was outrageously gifted and someone you wanted in your team all day. For a midfielder when you don't give them the best ball, he would make them really good. He was great for Chelsea and for the league. He was someone I looked up to and now I am early in my managerial career and I look up to him again as he has been very successful. Him still being in the game shows his appetite.

If you get an opportunity that some might think it is not the level he was working at, he wouldn't have gone in there if he didn't know he would be backed and know where they can go.

12:33PM

Jody Morris on Bradford:

They have drawn a few recently, but should still fancy autos. I know what Hughes is like and he won't be letting go of anything. Tomorrow night will be tough as they can hurt you in different ways. They scored two set pieces at the weekend, Cook, tricky wingers and they are high on confidence. We have to be better defensively at the weekend as Bradford will offer more variation. We need to be as in control and create more chances.

12:31PM

Jody Morris on training:

We gave them Sunday off, which we haven't done with the quick turnaround. They did that a lot before I was here. It was minimal for those who have played a lot and then some extras for those who need it. The focus was on rest and recovery as I think in these hectic times you need that.

12:30PM

Jody Morris on organisation:

I think looking organised and prepared is good. One of our biggest problems has been ourselves in possession when we give the ball away or we are not as well set-up as we can be. I am pleased with that. I get the view that it lacked excitement, as maybe being more solid took that away. We got into positions where we can do more, regardless what we were doing. Barrow do allow that with how they play, but we can do more.

12:28PM

Jody Morris on Saturday:

It is still a penalty. We might have missed it and they might have scored from that, but more often than not if you get the decisions then it gives you a chance. We had a few chances we should have taken. I was pleased with how we controlled the game in possession and defensively we were more assured. That was pleasing, but you want to create more and win games like that. This is not the first time that happened and we need to do more.

12:26PM

Jody Morris on getting results:

I think it is important. If we got the results we deserved in many games then maybe it changes, but we owe it to the club to get results. I don't like the word experiment. That doesn't have to be on match day, there are times when people are close that you might do that, but I haven't seen those too often. I want the results and performances to be right.

12:25PM

Jody Morris on keeping players happy:

I think the honest answer is you can't. If a player is happy being left out then that is a problem. I have to do what is best for us to get the result. I said to Cain it was nothing to do with him, I just needed to know we had cover for FBT as he had problems with his toe, that was why Minturn was in. I do what I can to pick the best team to be prepared and you can't make everyone happy. You shouldn't drive yourself mad trying to do it, but if you tell them why then that is the best way.

12:23PM

Jody Morris on McEachran:

I think if you are losing those two who would start every week, it is a big blow. McEachran knows I think he can do better, even if he has done well. He was very good in March, but there is more to come. It is a blow as he is a mainstay.

12:22PM

Jody Morris on injuries:

I think Tomlinson is probably not going to be around until maybe the last game of the season. We didn't have great news with his scan, so he is struggling. It is 99.% certain we will be without McEachran.

When we had the open training session, at the end of the session Tomlinson was kicking a few balls and felt his groin and it got worse as the day went on. Disappointing and a bit of a freak one.

McEachran says it wasn't a bang but there is a problem in the back of his knee from the game. We are hoping it is not too serious, but he tried to go out this morning and it wasn't right.

12:16PM

Not only have Swindon not won in nine, Bradford haven't lost in 11. So there is the optimistic view that those runs won't last forever.

12:07PM

Hello everyone. Another lunch time press conference today as Swindon prepare to face Bradford in League Two. Anything other than a win will see Town slip to ten without a win. However, Bradford are still in the hunt for automatic promotion, so not reaching double digit games without a win feels like a pipe dream.
