Website 0330 002 1993That is all from us today, the live blog will be back on Saturday for game day.
I asked Morris about if he had assurances about being here next year and the possibility of extending George McEachran:
Jody Morris on what he takes from his experiences:
You have to take everything. Whether that is a positive or negative. You have to take your experiences and try to adapt. That can be driven by circumstances and you have to evaluate what you are doing and we do that all the time. It is not necessarily a learning curve from a football aspect, as we know where we need to address problems but it helps you learn about the players you have and what tweaks can be made. You are always trying to balance the squad to give it the best chances to succeed. Even the players will be better off for going through tough spells, I spoke to the players about times when I was a player and times were tough and how we got out of that and flourished. Whether we need to make additions and changes to get there quicker is a point.
Jody Morris on deciding on contracts:
I would like to think I have been here long enough to know who we need to keep and some that may not be as strong. It would be amiss of me to rule players out when I walked in, you have to give people a chance to show what they have as you go through spells of things. It is not ideal to walk in like I did, but I have an idea of who I definitely want. You don't want to get rid of people if you can't replace them, which happened in January.
Jody Morris on contracts:
If there is a debate over a position when player a is leaving and player b is contracted, if that is close then you would maybe think about it. But just because someone has a contract doesn't mean you are thinking about them for next year. The best way of getting results is putting out your best team. If there was that balancing act then I would lean towards someone who is staying.
Jody Morris on experimenting:
I think if you weren't on such a bad run, you could look at a few things. For everyone's confidence it is more important we get a decent result and performances. It is well and good and I understand it, when you play games of less importance you might think to have a look at things. But we need to get the right results here for the players, fans, staff and everyone.
Jody Morris on changing things:
I don't mind different things. I don't know how they would react if we brought in paintball guns. Ideally you would do that not in the busiest part of the season. Talking with the fitness guys, rest and recovery is key. There are moments for those in seasons and doing team building, but right now we need to be on the grass.
Jody Morris on Swindon's worst league finish:
Whatever way you look at it, that is not good. I would like to finish we won't finish that low and the players will want to make sure that doesn't happen. We have to address each game as it comes and fight our way out. Looking at previous finishes is not something I do, but people speak about it and I want to finish as high as possible with whatever group of players, if I chose them or not.
Jody Morris on pressure from upstairs:
I haven't had any chats like that. Some of the things we encountered early on doesn't help, but all I can do is keep working. We are not where we could be with these players and have at times performed well. As far as pressure, I haven't felt anything like that from upstairs. I put enough on myself and hopefully the players are putting demands on themselves as well. We all need to be doing better and many things can help that and maybe we can do that in the summer.
Jody Morris on players faith in each other:
I think they do. If we are judging exclusively on games I can understand looking at moments and body language, but I haven't seen that in training. They are trying to push each other on and want to put and end to this run. I don't want to see all smiles when things aren't going well, but there needs to be that balance. Sometimes that happens in different ways, but I don't see a big problem with that.
Jody Morris on how teams approach Swindon:
Talking to managers after games, they do look at our physicality. I would if we looked at our problems when we are playing. There is no secret that conversation has gone on with many coaches. If you think there is a weakness or things you can exploit then it is natural they would do that.
Jody Morris on Barrow:
Going into Tranmere we watched them and thought they tried to play sometimes and then they changed their approach for us and go totally direct. You look at the results and think they will lean into how they played with a good result. We are looking at us and getting right what is going on with us, whilst making them aware. It has happened a few times that teams have changed a lot. They are in a decent position, but like most they have been up and down. They have a long throw, so we have to be prepared for that, but I won't hone in on a specific formation.
Jody Morris on injuries:
I have a problem with Tomlinson, he has tweaked his groin. We are not sure the extent of how bad it is, so we are scanning him. He is the only one with an issue. FBT has a problem with his toe, but it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
It looks like Tomlinson won't be available. Unless he feels great over night. We should be getting that scan today to confirm where he is. It would be nice if it is not serious.
Morris is now trying to join but technical difficulties are getting in the way. Red One, standing by.
This will probably start at some point.
We still wait, it feels like an in person one just from home.
Morris is at the training ground and they are running a bit behind, so 10 minute delay. This is like working in a train station.
We are in the Teams call now and just waiting to get started.
Another defeat this weekend could see Swindon slide all the way down to 16th in League Two, although all the teams below them are in equally shocking form.
Barrow are this week's opponents and realistically they need to win to keep up their play-off charge, but I am sure Swindon will be in a giving mood as they have been since Halloween.
Hello everyone. Back again, once again for a press conference for a game which doesn't matter, such fun.
