Website 0330 002 1993That is all from today's press conference. A few fewer direct quotes than Ryan, but I prefer the vibes of turning it into a drinking game. Sue me.
Tom Clayton on his future:
Wants to play as many games as he can, wherever that may take him.
Tom Clayton on playing players like Paddy Madden:
Really looking forward to it and these kind of tests are why he is here.
Tom Clayton on adapting to playing different positions:
Changing positions is difficult but Darcy has the skill and attitude to be able to move about with minimal issues.
Ronan Darcy has now been nicknamed Gary Neville (more big scoops from Tom Clayton)
Tom Clayton on that first win:
Wanted to get the performances and trust that results will follow and that Rochdale game really helped that.
?
Tom Clayton on being a left footer:
doesn't think having a right and left footer makes too much of a difference, even if some players have a preference.
He is living with Ronan Darcy (I only get you the big scoops)
Tom Clayton on breaking into the team:
Got his chance against Salford out of position and was happy to be able to stick in the team.
Tom Clayton on stepping up to first team football:
Was itching to start playing senior football and really enjoyed being able to learn off players like MB and happy to be playing. Just wanted to play games at this point in his career.
More being on the line hasn't changed his approach or added pressure as he had a win at all costs approach before hand.
Tom Clayton is now with us
Scott Lindsey on Stockport playing midweek:
No difference to how we had to manage things last week and won't impact their game plan.
Scott Lindsey on a fast start:
"We have got a game plan that we will implement". Stockport have big expectations and will get it going despite a slow start.
He then goes back and says we want a fast start to quieten the crowd.
Scott Lindsey on outgoings:
Ongoing conversations about younger players moving out. 3 or 4 of them will move out to get playing time. Fine balance between getting it right for players getting minutes and letting them learn with the Swindon squad and having some opportunities to play here.
Scott Lindsey on other transfers *gasp*:
"There's a possibility that we might be looking for something else". If a player becomes available then they will move quickly to get them in.
New position being targetted, no hints as to what that is.
Scott Lindsey on striker search:
McKirdy suspension has not accelerated the process. "Skiny market" - everyone take a shot- need to get it right.
Scott Lindsey on Stockport:
"Good side"- everyone take a shot- real good experience in the squad like Paddy Madden, real strength in depth and have "a way of playing" and can hurt you quickly. Working on how we can attack them and exploit weaknesses.
They are an expansive team, who play through their thirds and can also mix up their style with a player like Kyle Wootton [what a player he is by the way]
Scott Lindsey on late arrival adaptation:
Each game the players are getting stronger and more familiar with the style. With 14 new signings it takes time to get people to understand the style, but those starting game regularly are coming on faster, as you would expect.
Scott Lindsey on what the win has done:
No real change in mood, the players already were enjoying training and the atmosphere was strong. The win has helped and it has been a strong week in training.
More of the improvement game on game stuff and thought Rochdale was a strong performance. Used the clips and debrief to show the good things that the players had done.
Scott Lindsey on other players having opportunities:
It is an opportunity for another player whether on merit or by default, just need to take their chance. Somewhat frosty answer on that being Adeloye, but I think that might just be Scott being Scott.
Now passes up on the chance to praise Parsons and other younger players as being able to step up.
Scott Lindsey on McKirdy:
He understands what he has done and both he and club are missing out.
Scott Lindsey on Harry McKirdy punishment:
Don't want to comment on what the club will do. "If the fine was treble what it was, [McKirdy] he would be happier." Thinks punishment is sufficient.
Scott Lindsey on injuries:
EI the only player who is not fit, RD in training today and had no problems but likely not in the squad- certainly won't start. CB has trained all week, passed all protocol and trained well. HM ban includes PJT as Lindsey is aware.
In walks Scott Lindsey
And yes, I am as excited as everyone else that I actually managed to figure out how to upload one of these live blogs
Good afternoon, I am sat in the bowels of the County Ground and Scott Lindsey will be here shortly.
