PRESS CONFERENCE LIVE: Stevenage v Swindon

Live updates as Scott Lindsey speaks to the press ahead of Swindon Town's weekend trip to face Stevenage in League Two. Total Sport's Joe Acklam reports live from the press conference.

3:38PM

That is all from today, roll on Stevenage.

3:34PM

Mathieu Baudry on Clayton:

I love him. He has a very bright future, he talks really well for a young lad but he also listens and keeps improving. For his first season he is doing great and will keep getting better. For me the main thing is about trusting your partner and be able to listen, as ling as you have that understanding then it works. We get on really well.

3:32PM

Mathieu Baudry on getting a run of games:

I was not panicking about it. I was always ready and I know how the season works. It wasn't anything I did wrong to drop out, I just had to keep going and be consistent and when I am out there it is like riding a bike.

3:31PM

Mathieu Baudry on missing out on promotion:

After the game when we got relegated, I said I want to be part of the group that gets the club back to where it belongs. We were a bit slow to start but we are finding our feat and are becoming more consistent. The season is long and we can't look too far ahead.

3:30PM

Mathieu Baudry on Stevenage:

In this league it is not something we don't come up against, we know what to expect. I think everyone is prepared for it.

You have to be clever with what you are doing and we want to play but we have to know when it is not on.

3:29PM

Mathieu Baudry on Newport:

i love playing under the lights and I thought we played some good football.

3:29PM

Mathieu Baudry on being on the bench:

My decision to retire was nothing to do with not being able to play football, it was more to do with family and lifestyle. I want to push others for places and I still see myself as one of the best in my position in this league. At my age I am not playing, I am happy to help those who are.

3:27PM

Mathieu Baudry on moving to the UK:

Our academy is twinned with Brighton, so we played them when I was young and I have always wanted to come here because the Premier League is big in France. A year before I came to England I could have gone to Leeds and after then I always wanted the chance to come back. I didn't know what to expect but I just embraced it and I fell in love with it.

3:26PM

*Le Havre not Lorient

3:26PM

Mathieu Baudry on his upbringing:

I have always been on the football pitch, so my dad was a coach and it has always been something that I have done. I keep telling the boys that Pogba, Mahrez, Diarra came through Lorient, so it is a very good academy.

3:24PM

I asked about Stevenage being second for shots on target:

I felt against Newport we limited them to very little in terms of attempt and also against Northampton, so it does feel like we are getting better there.

3:17PM

Scott Lindsey on Gladwin POTM nomination:

I trust him and he knows that. He has come back fitter than ever, so last year it was about whether he could play regularly and he is answering that. He has rested and that has helped him , he is 5kg lighter and I respect him as a player and I know he understands what I want and how we play better than other players. We were similar under Mark Cooper and he gets that, so it is like having a coach on the pitch for me. He drives standards during the week and it is great to have him at the club.

It is incredible that he has played every minute, but we do need to be careful with that and I speak to him to see how he is and I trust him when he says that he is fine. I have thought about resting him but when you look at what he gives us and if I leave him out it will be for the right reasons and he feels fresh right now. He would tell me if it was otherwise.

3:13PM

Scott Lindsey on free agent keeper:

There are none that have jumped out at us so we are going along with what we have and if something happens then we will probably dip into the loan market. It is probably better financially for the club if we do that.

3:12PM

Scott Lindsey on confidence duel:

We believe in what we are doing and I believe in my players and they believe in each other. Hopefully that will be enough to win us the game.

I don't know what the difference will be as I don't have a crystal ball, we will play our way and we know what we have to do to get that win.

3:11PM

Scott Lindsey on Stevange:

Very strong side and very experienced people in the dug out and on the pitch. *Luke Norris was just desribed as a threat- easily the most laughable thing Lindsey has said all year. I missed the rest of this bit because I was screaming internally.*

Very direct and will ask questions by getting the ball long at every opportunity. They use every method they can and are very efficient.

It is similar to Sutton and Northampton style wise, but as usual we focus on how we can hurt them. We have to play our way and not get sucked into what they want us to do. We have players at the top of the pitch who unsettle any centre half at this level and probably the level above.

3:08PM

Scott Lindsey on narrow wins:

You can look at it the other way as if we had scored our chances then it would also be a lot different. I think there were sevens spills from their keeper on Tuesday before we scored the goal. I am not going to look at close games being a negative, I see it as a positive as we felt we deserved to win and possibly by more.

It is football, if you look at Stevange, aside from Tuesday all their wins have been by one goal.

3:06PM

Scott Lindsey on the quarter mark:

We are pleased with where we are and if we can continue that I would be really happy. The first game wasn't what we wanted but since then it has been really good. We had that bad result against a good Northampton side where we maybe should have got something, but it has been a really good start.

I think all over we have improved. Defensively we are getting stronger and are certainly a better footballing team in those early games and have definitely controlled possession more than then. We are certainly more fluid with possession and are creating opportunities.

3:04PM

Scott Lindsey on bookings:

I think we havw to tell them we don't want them suspended, but they also have to play their game. We don't want petulant yellow cards, get one for being competitive if you are going to get them. We will tell them how close they are to missing games.

3:03PM

Scott Lindsey on Adeloye:

He trained today. Not full, just parts, but we are hoping by the end of next week he should be ready for full training and he was really sharp today.

3:03PM

Scott Lindsey on MacDonald:

Still the same. He is going to see a specialist and take it from there. With the medical team as they are, we think an operation shouldn't be necessary, so where we were on Tuesday. If he was to have that operation he would be out for a lot longer.

3:01PM

It is now two consecutive weekends where Swindon will be playing the team second in the league after Luke Norris' brace sent them back above Northmapton. Scott Lindsey is also with us,

2:52PM

Good afternoon everyone. After Swindon made it four wins from five games against Newport on Tuesday they face the mammoth task of travelling to Stevenage at the weekend.
