PRESS CONFERENCE LIVE: Portsmouth v Swindon Town

Good afternoon and welcome to our live press conference blog as we bring you real-time updates from John Sheridan's pre-match press conference as Swindon Town travel to Fratton Park to face Portsmouth in League One tomorrow evening. Join us from 12:15 as we speak to the Swindon Town manager and new signing Christopher Missilou.

1:04PM

That conclude's today's press conference. We will have a full write-up for you later today.

1:03PM

Sheridan on motivation tactics:

"I motivate the players by getting them to look at the table and see where we are in the league. I wouldn't want to think about managing in League Two, never mind playing in it.

You motivate them by telling them that we are good enough to compete in this league. You can repeat that over and over but consistency is the magic word.

I am the quietest man during the week but I'm vocal during the most important time and that's on a matchday.

It's not about being vocal, it's about how you go about your game and how you play. I don't listen to people who jump on the bandwagon."

12:51PM

Sheridan on Portsmouth:

"Kennie does an excellent job at Portsmouth and he has his team organised. They play in a way where they are rigid and every player knows their job. They have some quality and are very effective in the way they go about the game. They get results and have done well in this league.

I've beaten Portsmouth with Wigan this season and I go there wanting to win this game. We have to turn up though and if we do that then they know they are in for a tough game."

12:49PM

Sheridan on needing to win:

"We've come up from League Two last year and are in a totally different league where you get punished for your mistakes.

We're going to be up and down but the players are up for the fight. We need to start winning games and that will make my job a lot easier.

When you lose games you're always questioning yourself and wondering if you should've done something differently. When you're winning the mindset is totally different but I won't beat myself up and you have to accept that."

12:47PM

Sheridan on attacking and defensive balance:

"We've had five centre-backs injured this season and I feel we create enough chances to score.

It's about keeping yourself in the game, keeping clean-sheets and if you do that then you only need one goal to score.

You need to be organised and have the desire to work hard as a team. The effort from the players is there and we need a bit of luck to help get us over the line."

12:44PM

Sheridan on injuries:

"Conor Masterson needs a scan on his hamstring and isn't fit. Jordan Lyden needs a scan as well so we will hopefully know more soo which will give us some more insight. I think Jordan has a bette chance of being back quickly.

Everyone else is fit and available apart from the injuries you know about. Conroy will be back and I just have to pick my best team. Broadbent, Joel Grant, and Grounds aren't available but will be back soon."

12:42PM

John Sheridan has now joined us.

12:40PM

Christopher Missilou has now left us, John Sheridan will join us soon.

12:38PM

Missilou on International experiences:

"I started with the French national team at 15 and played with them until I was 18.

I then moved to play for Congo which was a very good experience. I like playing in England and I think it was a good career move to come to England."

12:34PM

Missilou on his qualities:

"I must do my best when I run, tackle, and must come with the attitude of wanting to fight.

I bring my energy and we have to fight in every game."

12:33PM

Missilou on Shrewsbury defeat:

"We started well and controlled the game but just didn't score.

If we had scored then we would be back in the game and could do something but I don't think Shrewsbury were any better than us."

12:32PM

Missilou on playing at Swindon:

"There is a winning mentality here and it is a very big challenge to stay in League One and you have to have that mentality.

If I talk with Jordan Lyden he told me this was a good team and we can stay in League One if you have that mentality.

I was told good things about Swindon and I think we can stay in the league with this team, it will be hard but it is a very good challenge."

12:30PM

Missilou on leaving Northampton:

"It was difficult for Northampton to let me go and on the last day they let me leave."

12:29PM

Missilou on moving to Swindon:

"Swindon were talking with my agent for a week and on the last day of the window I moved here.

I'm happy to move here and I am focused on playing on the pitch. My agent called me at 6pm on deadline day and told me I could go to Swindon.

I was speaking to Northampton and told them I wanted to move to the club."
