PRESS CONFERENCE LIVE: Bradford City v Swindon

Live updates as Scott Lindsey speaks to the press ahead of Swindon Town travelling to face Bradford City in League Two. Total Sport's Joe Acklam reports live from the press conference.

1:23PM

That is all for today, roll on tomorrow night.

1:22PM

I asked Lindsey about the home crowd and managing against Mark Hughes.

  • I think we are getting what we want, they are turning out in their numbers and are getting behind us
  • I haven't really thought about it, but it will be exciting to come up against someone who has done what he has done as a player and a manager
1:16PM

Scott Lindsey on counter attacking:

I think we aren't a counter attacking team because we look to control games but we have players who can do it. We have real energy so we can run with and without the ball so we might see more of it.

1:15PM

Scott Lindsey on possession:

I expect us to be more dominant on the ball than them. It could be closer than normal but I expect us to have most of possession.

1:14PM

Scott Lindsey on testing promotion credentials:

Possibly. Bradford are a good side and have a real physical presence in Andy Cook and good technical players in the middle of the pitch. They don;t just play long, they play through the thirds and try and get the ball wide.

Is it a marker of where we are? Probably. Is it a marker of where we will end up? Probably not.

1:12PM

Scott Lindsey on a testing week:

It may sound boring but all the games are tough. Even Saturday against bottom was a hard game as they had plenty of players playing well. This will be no different as every game is a test. I don't think the gap is that big on any given day between top and bottom.

1:11PM

Scott Lindsey on the atmosphere:

I haven't really thought about it, we play in front of 10,000 nearly every week. I back my players to produce in any environment and stick to our game plan.

1:10PM

Scott Lindsey on playing more attacking teams:

It doesn't make any difference. We have to play our way and that will not change. The opposition doesn't matter, if they are direct or playing through the thirds we still have to defend the moments.

I think games where we are in control suits us more than when it is open. We have maybe been labelled as not being able to deal with direct teams, which I don't agree with. We beat Sutton and Grimsby who do that and also beaten footballing sides.

1:08PM

Scott Lindsey on his squad:

We have a really strong squad and we feel we can make three or four changes without being weakened. That is good but also forces decisions, which can be hard. This week I have to make decisions based on the week we have.

I have certainly seen greater competition this year and a desire to play. Some players can get disgruntled when they don't play which is normal.

1:06PM

Scott Lindsey on rotation:

I think it will require freshness. It is a long way to Bradford and we had some sore legs on Saturday and we have players who historically haven't coped well with saturday-tuesday.

The travel can definitely take it out of you so we are doing everything in our power to put out a fresh team. We are travelling on the day and have things in place for when we get up there.

1:04PM

Scott Lindsey on injuries:

The three in RHM, Devine, and MacDonald are where they were. There are a couple of bumps and bruises from the weekend but apart from that we are all ok.

12:55PM

This is a big week for knowing where Swindon are this season. They are fifth in the table right now but play two play-off rivals away from home in Bradford and Mansfield.

12:52PM

Hello everyone, it is a big week in Swindon's season and we are kicking it off here by speaking to Scott Lindsey ahead of Swindon's trip to Bradford tomorrow night.
