PLAYER RATINGS: SWINDON TOWN 0-1 FOREST GREEN ROVERS

SWINDON TOWN saw their hopes of a cup run dashed as Forest Green Rovers produced a surprise one-nil away victory at the County Ground. TotalSport Swindon's Ryan Walker gives his Robins player ratings following the action.

GK: Lawrence Vigoroux (7)

Apart from the goal which he could do nothing about, Vigouroux had a relatively quiet night. Made some simple saves down the middle of his goal but his shaky clearances are a concern.

RB: Kyle Knoyle (7)

Another no-thrills performance from the right-back who continues to impress in Swindon’s new-look defence. Got forward down the wing well all match whilst never seeming to be caught out of position.

CB: Olly Lancashire © (7)

Didn’t have much to do all match however Lancashire continued to do the simple things well. A threat at set-pieces and used possession well to kick-start some of Town’s more promising attacks. Wasn’t at fault for Swindon’s goal as his nose was broken by an elbow in the build-up.

A good all-around performance from the skipper.

CB: Sid Nelson (6)

At fault for Forest Green’s goal as Campbell latched onto an easy through ball to make it one-nil, however, despite his mishap, Nelson looked comfortable in the defence. Brought the ball out with confidence and used his strength well to snuff out opportunities.

Brown has insisted he still wants another defender but Nelson will be keen to keep getting minutes under his belt.

LB: Joe Romanski (7)

Another start at left-back for Joe Romanski equalled another top performance from the youngster. Eager to get forward and delivered some good crosses into the box to test the visitor's defence.

Was sometimes caught out of position on the counter-attack but Romanski can look back on his performance admirably.

RW: Keshi Anderson (6)

An ever-present thorn in the opposition defence as Keshi Anderson’s pace had Forest Green Rovers scrambling to get back into position. Has great quality to find openings however his lack of end product is a frustration for Town fans.

CM: Toumani Diagouraga (5)

Back in the side after being left absent for the weekend's loss away to Lincoln, Diagouraga endured an uneventful match in the middle of the park for Swindon.

Was dispossessed too easily at times but some lunging challenges in the second half to stop shots demonstrated his determination to be a regular starter under Phil Brown.

CM: Michael Doughty (8)

A shot in the opening minutes set the precedent for what would be another big performance in a Swindon shirt for Michael Doughty. Linked up well in attack with Anderson and Adebayo to create openings and you feel he deserved a goal for all his efforts.

CM: Martin Smith (7)

Almost made himself a Swindon legend in the thirteenth minute as a shot from his own half bounced off the post to deny Swindon an opening goal. Produced a solid display playing good forward balls whilst also tracking back well to protect his defence.

LW: Matty Taylor (7)

Playing further up the pitch than usual, Matty Taylor had another impressive performance for Swindon. Nearly on the score sheet from a few set-piece opportunities, and forced a brilliant save from Montgomery in the 48th minute.

Didn’t have the legs in the latter stages of the match as Swindon pushed for an equaliser but another solid performance from the ever-reliable Taylor.

ST: Elijah Adebayo (7)

Yet to score in a competitive Swindon fixture, but Elijah Adebayo continued to impress. His link-up play with Doughty and Anderson was brilliant, as his running in behind caused the Forest defence problems.

His direct running is a big positive factor but goals are needed from the forward.
