PLAYER RATINGS: Swindon Town 0-0 Port Vale

SWINDON TOWN found themselves short of ideas as they failed to get back to winning ways in testing conditions against Port Vale at the County Ground this afternoon. Total Sport Swindon's Ryan Walker gives his Robins player ratings following the action.

GK: Lawrence Vigouroux (7)

Testing conditions made it hard for Vigouroux to find accuracy with his long balls that often drifted out of play. Didn’t have much to do throughout and collected balls into his box well.

RB: Kyle Knoyle (6.5)

Supported Woolery down the right-hand side well and was positive with his play in attacking positions. Was poor with his crosses into the box but defended well in one-on-one situations against Luke Hannant.

CB: Dion Conroy © (6.5)

Frequently brought the ball up over the halfway line in the first-half but frequently lacked the passing accuracy needed to find his man. Improved in the second half after adapting to conditions and put in a strong last-ditch tackle on Oyeleke to keep the scoreline level.

CB: Luke Woolfenden (6)

Didn’t have much to do at the back for Swindon and failed to use his height in set-piece situations to test the Vale defenders. An average performance from the Swindon centre-back.

LB: Ali Koiki (6)

Back in the starting side after being dropped for Swindon’s mid-week defeat against Stevenage, and never really get into the game. Had very few touches of the ball as Swindon often opted to play through the middle and crosses from the by-line were poor. Didn’t have much to do defensively.

RM: Danny Rose (6)

Enjoyed lots of the ball throughout but often slowed play down by taking too long when Swindon was on the attack. Improved in the second half and dominated the central areas by breaking up play when Vale looked to attack. Linked up well with Bennett but to no avail.

CM: Canice Carroll (5)

Was sloppy in possession and struggled, like so many of his teammates, to adapt to the testing conditions inside the stadium during the game’s opening exchanges. Protected Swindon’s backline well but never looked settled in attacking situations.

LM: Kyle Bennett (5.5)

Often cut a frustrated figure in the centre of midfield and looked short of creativity when on the ball in attacking positions. Worked the ball well in tight areas as the game progressed and attempted to free up play with balls out into wide areas. A mixed performance from the midfielder.

RW: Kaiyne Woolery (5.5)

A difficult first-half performance saw Woolery fail to get the ball under control as the weather conditions dictated play. Went on some bursting runs down the wing as the match progressed and came closest to scoring for Swindon with his 57th minute shot that ended up in the side-netting.

ST: Theo Robinson (6.5)

Ran tirelessly throughout to try and create openings for Town but was let down by poor quality through balls that failed to break down the opposition defence. Tried to cut the ball back on occasions but lacked support from his teammates who were late arriving into the box.

LW: Keshi Anderson (6)

Got on the ball the most out of any Swindon player but couldn’t create clear-cut chances. Was wasteful in possession and tried to pass the ball around Vale’s defenders when a shot would have been the better option.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

Jak McCourt (N/A)

Introduced with minutes left and didn’t get a touch of the ball.

Marc Richards (N/A)

Came off the bench in the closing moments
