ON-THE-WHISTLE MATCH REPORT: Swindon Town 0-1 Lincoln City

Sean Raggett's 82nd-minute header won a dull encounter for visitors Lincoln as Swindon's hot and cold form continues.

Swindon's last six games now read win, loss, win, loss, win, loss.

The goal aside, which came about when Raggett headed in a corner from substitute Jordan Maguire-Drew, was one of very few flashpoints in a tepid game in Wiltshire.

The first half in particular had a real lack of quality and Swindon failed to register a single shot on target during the opening 45 minutes.

Lincoln came as close as you can very early on, however, as striker Billy Knott had a header cleared off the line by Matt Taylor just three minutes in.

That was as good as it got in the first half, and arguably the match too.

Knott curled over the bar for Lincoln and and Michael Bostwick saw an effort from the edge of the box parried by Reice Charles-Cook too but the Town stopper was not overly troubled either.

Nathan Arnold was the next to have a go for the way side, but his shot was rash as well and it went a far way wide before Matt Green headed a cross wide.

Olly Lancashire had Swindon's first effort, but he never came close when he nodded Taylor's swinging free-kick over the bar.

Swindon were marginally better in the second half and came closest to breaking the deadlock when Luke Norris lazered a shot from the edge of the box narrowly over the bar.

It was Lincoln who had the best chance of the half again though. First, Arnold hit the post from a tight angle and, from the rebound, substitute Ollie Palmer looked set to score but right-back Ben Purkiss came in with an incredible block to keep Town level.

Again though, Swindon were limited to Taylor free-kicks and it spoke volumes that he went for goal at one point when he was around 35 yards out. It went just over.

Keshi Anderson shot just wide from distance in second-half stoppage time but, like every other Swindon attempt, no-one really though it was going to ripple the net.
