MATCHDAY LIVE: Swindon vs AFC Wimbledon

Follow along with live updates as Swindon Town play host to AFC Wimbledon in League Two. Total Sport's Joe Acklam covers the game live from the County Ground.

4:58PM

Still, at least it is coming home.

4:56PM
Whistle

Full-time: Swindon 0 Wimbledon 0

A few boos at full-time, which feels harsh as Swindon played well here. But as long as they are struggling like this in front of goal, there will be disquiet.

4:55PM

90- RHM is great people, get on board. This is my takeaway. 0-0.

4:52PM

90- That is ridiculous. Great run from RHM, slid the ball into Roberts and he was brought down in the box. Penalty clear as day but free-kick to Wimbledon given. When your luck is not in, it is really not in. 0-0.

4:51PM

Five minutes added on, don't hold your collective breath. Also *obligatory where did he get that from*.

4:50PM
Yellow Card

90- Josh Davison booked for no obvious reason. 0-0.

4:42PM

82- They need to be scoring these. Williams played a beautiful through ball to set Roberts in behind, he rounded Tzanev but went too wide and couldn't divert his shot on target. 0-0.

4:41PM
Yellow Card

80- Paris Maghoma is booked for shoving over Ronan Darcy whilst Wimbledon were on the counter. 0-0.

4:36PM

76- Instant impact. Hutton motors down the side and plays in a cross RHM leaps up and gets to the ball, but over the top. 0-0.

4:35PM
Sub

74- OFF: Tyrese Shade; Ethan Chislett

ON: Rushian Hepburn-Murphy; Kyle Hudlin

Maybe Jackson was watching the Netherlands as this spells an aerial bombardment.

4:31PM
Yellow Card

71- Alex Woodyard is booked for a foul on Morgan Roberts. 0-0.

4:31PM

4:31PM

The attendance here is 8430.

4:29PM
Sub

69- OFF: Jacob Wakeling

ON: Morgan Roberts

4:27PM

66- There was the chance. Lovely football from Swindon as they worked the ball this way and that before Iandolo picked out Darcy at the far post, he laid it back to Shade and he forced a fine save from Tzanev. 0-0.

4:23PM
Yellow Card

63- Very brief scuffle there. Harry Pell brought down Lavinier and Iandolo rushed in to push him away. Pell was booked for his troubles. 0-0

4:20PM

60- Close. A lovely pass from Lavinier found Williams making a run into the box, he took the ball down back to goal, but Towler nipped in and smothered his shot. 0-0.

4:17PM

56- A mix-up at the back saw Towler play the ball beyond his own 'keeper who was rushing out to sweep up, and gifted Swindon a corner. It was taken quickly and came to nothing. 0-0.

4:15PM

55- Swindon have lost a bit of their control of possession early in this second half. 0-0.

4:14PM

53- A seemingly comfortable cross for Brynn to take almost spelled disaster as the 'keeper dropped it, but fortunately Blake-Tracy could usher Chislett away and clear. 0-0.

4:11PM

50- I should actually have brought up Louis Reed's wonderful eye-of-the-needle pass to break the lines. Silly me. 0-0.

4:10PM

50- Fairly end-to-end start to the half. No real chances, the closest being a Williams cross into a good area, but no red shirts in sight. 0-0.

4:05PM
Whistle

Ethan Chislett kicks-off the second half, with Swindon shooting towards the Stratton Bank.

4:04PM

The teams are back out.

3:58PM

If anyone from the women's team is reading this, your next super star is currently playing on the pitch closest to the Arkells.

3:53PM

One thing I have liked about Swindon is their left side. Lavinier, Iandolo, and Williams can all essentially play in each other's positions and have shown it. They inter change very well and it has caused Wimbledon trouble and it has even allowed FBT forwards at times.

3:51PM

Well, Swindon have been far from stagnant like previous games. The build-up has been fluid and exciting, but they just have not tested Nik Tzanev enough in the first half. Williams has made a big difference.

3:48PM
Whistle

Half-time Swindon 0 Wimbledon 0.

3:47PM

Just one minute added on. Which after watching the World Cup feels almost impossibly short. 0-0.

3:42PM

40- Williams is enjoying this. He finds space in the centre and uses the run of Shade ahead to find a gap to shoot through, but it rises just over the top. 0-0.

3:42PM

39- Swindon are continuing to control the game and could have been ahead if the ball had fallen more kindly for Williams after a Hutton cross, before trying to tee up Darcy. 0-0.

3:39PM

37- Assal can't be far off a booking here as he has made a string of poorly timed tackles. 0-0.

3:37PM

34- I mentioned the Dons kit earlier and in the interest of fairness, Wakeling is wearing a particularly fetching pair of old Nike mercurials.

3:35PM

32- Big danger. A loose ball from Reed set Wimbledon on the counter. Davison played a nice ball to Chislett and he cuts it back, but to no one in particular and Hutton put the ball behind. 0-0.

3:34PM

31- I forgot about listing the players wearing gloves. It is just Williams, and I choose to give him a pass given where he was until last week. 0-0.

3:31PM
Yellow Card

29- Lavinier was robbed of the ball roughly but cleanly as Swindon looked to counter. The Town players were not happy about not getting a free-kick and FBT was booked for dissent. 0-0.

3:30PM

28- Wimbledon had a free-kick in a dangerous position, but clearly weren't watching the World Cup as they did not try and pass. Instead it was struck tamely into the wall. 0-0.

3:28PM

26- Close again! Reed beats Davison in the air (classic Davison) and gets it to Wakeling. He drives forward and slides the ball out to Williams, and his shot whistles just wide of the near post. 0-0.

3:27PM

25- This needs to come to something for Swindon. They are having all the play and quick stepovers from Lavinier gave him space in the corner of the box, but his cross is just beyond the run of Iandolo. 0-0.

3:24PM

21- So close. FBT is slipped in down the side by Darcy and almost puts the ball on the forehead of Williams, but as he looked to flick it towards goal, he failed to make contact. 0-0.

3:23PM

20- The Wimbledon commentator is sat next to me and he seems to be increasingly concern by the pressure they are under. He clearly has not watched much Swindon in preparation for today. 0-0.

3:20PM

17- Swindon applying pressure here. They are camped on the edge of the Dons box and had an uncleared corner which FBT forced Tzanev into a save from. Then Shade ghosted beyond hi s full-back and nearly found Wakeling in the middle. 0-0.

3:16PM

14- Could have been worse. Brynn slips whilst playing the ball out and it goes straight to Chislett, but he recovers well enough to get up and make the save. 0-0.

3:14PM

12- Darcy pulling out some absolutely filthy bits off skill. The move ended in a cross being headed away, but lets focus on that freestyler stuff from Darcy. 0-0.

3:13PM

11- Davison forces a good save from Brynn. A slow move made its way to Davison and he shook off FBT and took aim, but straight at Brynn. 0-0.

3:12PM

10- Neither side has really created anything so far. Swindon looking the more dangerous, but in terms of danger it has been like two mice fighting whilst covered in bubble wrap. 0-0.

3:10PM

8- Jonny Jackson's assistant has been in Scott Lindsey's technical area shouting for most of the match so far. 0-0.

3:07PM

5- It is nice to see that some things don't change as Davison has already gotten underneath two or three long balls and been easily beaten in the air. 0-0.

3:06PM

4- We are getting treated to the delightful Wimbledon 3rd shirt today, dark blue and gold. A wonder on the eyes. 0-0.

3:04PM

1- During the minute's applause Swindon were nearly in as Wakeling got down the right and had Williams in space in the middle, but he couldn't get the ball into him quick enough. 0-0

3:03PM

Actually, it is Iandolo in the forward line and Williams as a no.8, just how he likes it.

3:03PM

It is in fact Iandolo in midfield and Lavinier at left-back. I have failed you all and I apologise.

3:02PM
Whistle

Jacob Wakeling gets us underway.

3:01PM

Swindon alpha-ing Wimbledon by having a huddle in their half of the pitch, stopping them from getting ready.

2:58PM

Here come the players, kick-off is just a few minutes away.

2:57PM

After a fair amount of finagling for the Adver, it looks like this will remain your home for text based updates for this game. Watch/Read it, drink it in, I swear you will never see/read anything like this ever again.

2:53PM

Fair play to Santa Claus for coming to the County Ground during what must be a pretty busy time for him.

2:49PM

How big of a difference does everyone think Williams will make. As discussed on LSPOD on Friday, it seems like we were a one-man team without knowing it based on the performances in his absence. Hopefully he can use his creativity as there has not been enough since he went to Qatar.

2:46PM

Watching the Swindon shooting drills and the last three or four players have all shot straight at Copland. These boys are desperate to get a shot on target so that can't be thrown at them again.

2:44PM

The best part of the winter weather is to see how each player responds in terms of clothing. Last week most were wearing thermals, apart from the hearty Sheffield souls in FBT and Reed, who were rocking short sleeves. Shortly after kick-off I will be naming and shaming any gloves wearers, particularly given the England-France game going on this evening.

2:39PM

The one thing Swindon have been this season is resilient, not letting defeats spiral. They will need to do that again as Wimbledon are seven unbeaten and this crowd is going to demand a response from the last three performances.

2:26PM

The speakers here are playing Three Lions. And yes, that does mean it will in fact be coming home.

2:24PM

I have seen him play in the flesh before, but it will never fail to amaze just how tall Kyle Hudlin is. 6"9 and he is currently warming up with Nathan Young-Coombes, who is a full foot shorter than him. I assume they did that to make him look even bigger.

2:21PM

I hope you are all enjoying this as the Adver's Jonny Leighfield is having a few issues with his WiFi. Making this officially Swindon's number 1 live blog for this game. Good job team and I want to thank all the gremlins in his laptop for making this possible.

2:18PM

One nice thing to see from that Swindon line-up is Dworzak on the bench. He has looked very good when called upon in the cups this season and it would be great to see him get his chance with this team.

Equally it is good to see RHM back on the bench. Hopefully for his sake his body is ready for this as he showed during his brief cameo before that he can be a real asset to this team

2:15PM

As you have likely seen already today, Mathieu Baudry is out for the season. Terrible news for everyone given what a great servant he has been for this club in the last four years. Given he was considering retiring last summer, I suspect this might be it for him, which is very sad for everyone. Merci Mathieu.

2:09PM

Good news! It is not about the Dacia Sandero coming to Britain, but Wimbledon are unchanged. That helps a lot with knowing what they are doing. 4231, nice and simple.

Tzanev

Biler Kalambayi Towler Currie

Maghoma Woodyard

Assal Pell Chislett

Davison

2:04PM

Well, a Swindon team picked by Gareth Southgate then with that number of full-backs in the mix. We know Lavinier and Iandolo can both play in midfield and at left-back, but my suspicion is that the ex-Spurs man will be in midfield.

Now I shall figure out Wimbledon.

2:03PM

AFC Wimbledon XI:

Tzanev, Woodyard, Pell, Davison, Assal, Chislett, Towler, Maghoma, Biler, Currie, Kalambayi.

Subs: Broome, Gunter, Marsh, Young-Coonbes, Pearce, Hudlin, Senior.

2:01PM

Swindon Town XI:

Brynn; Hutton, Brennan, Blake-Tracy, Iandolo; Reed, Lavinier, Darcy; Williams, Wakeling, Shade.

Subs: Copland, Adeloye, Aguiar, Hepburn-Murphy, MacDonald, Roberts, Dworzak

1:53PM

Lindsey was somewhat cagey about specifically who was out, but I think those who are out are: Brann, Clayton, Baudry, Harries, Gladwin, Khan, Jephcott, and Devine. Then we have MacDonald and Hepburn-Murphy who are not fully fit. On the plus side, continuing of the back three seems unlikely.

1:47PM

Line-ups are 15 minutes away and in many ways it is all eyes on the Swindon bench. There thick book of Swindon injuries sustained in the last week means that the squad is looking rather thin. The starting XI should be fine, but who makes the bench will be interesting.

1:41PM

Good afternoon everyone. It is freezing cold, the World Cup is on and Swindon have scored once in three games, but I am at the County Ground and I wouldn't have it any other way.
