Website 0330 002 1993Full-time: Swindon 0 Barrow 0
90- RHM runs towards the box and knocks it back to Darcy, he tees up Khan, but his shot span miles wide. He never looked like scoring. 0-0.
90- Barrow scuffed it and Hutton headed away easily. I 100% believed that was a goal. 0-0.
90- Barrow have a free-kick which is virtually a corner in stoppage time. You know what comes next. 0-0.
90- RHM did his best to make something happen as he cut inside and unleashed an effort that was well held by Farman. I believe that is the first shot on target by a Swindon player. 0-0.
90- Six minutes added on *obligatory where did he get that from*. 0-0.
87- OFF: Williams
ON: Darcy
83- The Barrow 'keeper is even time wasting. Do they know where they are in the table? 0-0.
82- With less than ten minutes remaining, Swindon are still the team exerting more pressure despite Barrow being the ones needing a win. 0-0.
80- OFF: Gordon, Newby; McEachran, Wakeling
ON: Young, Warren; Shade, Kadji
78- McEachran is down holding his knee here and looking in some pain. Morris is yet to make a change. 0-0.
76- Robbie Gotts becomes the first player in the book for a foul on Khan. 0-0.
74- Results are currently going with Barrow as Mansfield are drawing and Salford are losing, but this late in the season a win would be massive for them and you would think they have to really go for it. 0-0.
68- So close. Hutton fires a free-kick in low and a few Swindon players failed to get a touch on it and it flicked off Canavan towards his own goal, but Farman saved. 0-0.
66- All of a sudden it is Swindon who can't get out. One misplaced pass from Clayton has seen Barrow pushing high up the pitch and winning set pieces. 0-0.
64- Clayton clears off the line. Foley won his header from a corner had Brynn beaten, but the defender cleared off the line. 0-0.
64- The attendance here today is 8080 with 147 away fans. 0-0.
It was in fact Harrison Neal who came off, not Tom White. The board got it wrong.
59- OFF: White, Whitfield
ON: Kay, Foley
59- Town are pouring on the pressure and Barrow can't get out. The next update will definitely be for an away goal. 0-0.
55- That was surely a penalty. Hutton slides a pass behind Brough and RHM raced beyond him and was brough down with the defender taking none of the ball down the side of the box, the referee said nothing doing. You feel Town needed that. 0-0.
53- Swindon have started the half fairly well. Austin drifts wide and plays a ball into the middle which RHM gets up well to get his head on, but his header floated wide. 0-0.
52- Wakeling's hopeful cross trying to keep the ball in looked for a second like it was inch perfect for Austin, but George Ray did well to get up and head it away. 0-0.
50- McEachran just tried to shoot from a free-kick that was about 40 yards out. He hit the wall. Why? Just why? 0-0.
48- Given the amount of passing around the back Town have done in this game, it is a miracle there hasn't been more discontent from the crowd. It is either a sign of them wanting to be behind the team or the more likely explanation of having given up caring. 0-0.
46- Jonny Williams restarts play in the second half with Swindon shooting towards the Town End. 0-0.
In something I have never seen before, McEachran has just had a chat with one of the grounds staff, presumably asking about how the pitch is playing. Dedication.
Swindon are back out for the second half.
I have just had a look at a few stats from the half and there are some largely positive signs. Town have dominated the match momentum chart across the half and looking at average positions, the two Barrow wing-backs have had to play very deep, which was clearly what Morris wanted with how Town went about attacking early on.
Not a bad half for confidence building that. It is probably the best Swindon have held possession since Morris came in and they have managed to stop a good number of counter attacks at source. They need to be a bit more penetrative, but if we are taking things in stages then it could definitely be worse.
Half-time: Swindon 0 Barrow 0
45- Gunning is giving Clayton some nice coaching on how he can use his body better when defending, which is good to see. This live blog has largely been a Gunning promo and if he wants to sponsor it for more of that then I am happy to take his money. 0-0.
45- RHM has gone down clutching his face after a challenge in the air and the game has been paused so he can be seen to. 0-0.
45- For a side in desperate need of a win, Barrow have looked like a side to whom the result does not matter a great deal. Swindon have controlled the vast majority of this half and have not given up too much at the back. 0-0.
45- Three minutes added on *obligatory where did he get that from*. 0-0.
39- HOW HAS THAT STAYED OUT? Austin gets the ball at the corner of the box and looks to curl one into the far top corner, Williams and RHM are at the back post but neither can get the touch to take it in. 0-0.
37- With the amount of yelling going on from the Town technical area when the throw-in was given to Barrow, it it clear they have been preparing to defend that one all week. 0-0.
34- Close! Williams barrels forwards and beyond a few defenders but just waits too long to get the shot off and eventually has to settle for a corner. 0-0.
33- Poor from Brewitt. Barrow counter quickly through Newby and Whitfield, Brewitt keeps backing off Whitfield before he skips past him and gets a shot off. Fortunately he didn't catch it correctly and Brynn saved. 0-0.
31- Good thing the EFL doesn't use Mitre footballs anymore. FBT just cannoned a clearance off the thigh of McEachran and if that was a Mitre then he might not have a leg anymore. 0-0.
29- Swindon are having a few corners in a row here and Barrow look like the first team all season to have felt any trouble from that. 0-0.
27- Another situation that should have been more. McEachran once again slips a ball through no space, this time to Wakeling, he plays the ball into Austin, but his first touch let him down. He tried to find Khan but the attack had stalled by this point. 0-0.
24- The ref eventually stopped play after Williams was almost cut in half with a challenge. Given he has given a few soft ones it did feel strange he let that go. Williams is now being seen to, giving Morris a chance to have a chat with his players. A chat you would hope would include the words "tempo" and "up the".
20- Big save Brynn. Khan makes a hash of defending the back post and flicked the ball back into the middle, where Whitfield tried a first time effort and Brynn did well to hold on and make the save. 0-0.
17- Swindon have been very clearly trying to work the space in behind the Barrow wing-backs so far (where the Austin chance came from) and that is forcing them backwards and giving even more space for Town to build-up in. 0-0.
15- Straight swap at the back that one for an already depleted Barrow. Rory Feely went down and stayed down off the ball and had to come off. 0-0.
15: OFF: Feely
ON: Ray
12- That should have been more. McEachran threads the eye of a needle to set Williams in behind, he cut the ball back to Austin but he lost balance and shanked his effort. Barrow then couldn't get out and Austin eventually fired a shot over on the half volley. 0-0.
10- McEachran gets the ball out to Wakeling, he stands up his man before bursting beyond him down the left. He looked to dink a cross into the middle but didn't get enough on it and the ball goes behind. 0-0.
9- It could well be a Swindon defensively thing, but Barrow are working the ball through them very easily when they get it. Pete Wild has this team well drilled and they move the ball nicely, but it all feels too easy. 0-0.
8- Barrow want a penalty but the ref waves claims away. Gordon went down as Brewitt looked to clear the ball, very clearly no contact but they appealed anyway. 0-0.
5- Barrow with the first moment of danger as they work a neat move down the left and Brough looked to stand a cross up into the middle, but it flew over everyone and Swindon survive. 0-0.
3- Pretty patient stuff from Swindon so far. They are feeling their way into the game like a blind man in a cave and are keeping the ball around the back. Get ready for some early groans and boos. 0-0.
1- In the best news since Lee Power sold the club, Jacob Wakeling is not playing as a wing-back. 0-0.
1- Tom White gets us underway at the County Ground. 0-0.
The players are on their way out, who else is ready for another humbling? If you aren't then I would try and come to terms with it pretty sharpish.
With five minutes to go until kick-off this ground is at most half full. Any attendance figure they give over 7,000 is a lie and an insult to my better than legally necessary eyes.
Gavin Gunning has given all of the players a warm embrace and word in the ear as they walked off after the warm-up. I hope they were all threatening words meant to scare them into winning.
I had a very brief scare when I thought that Wakeling was warming up with the defenders and thought a very dark piece of history was repeating itself. Thankfully it was McEachran with his back turned, hopefully hinting at a less ridiculous 433.
Piccareta is having a chat with a member of the Barrow coaching staff and I have never felt more betrayed. Clearly our coaching staff are the ones who need his masterful guidance.
The PA system is currently blaring the Darwin Nunez song (not with the actual lyrics) and this is the most pumped I have been before a Swindon match in several months.
Fair play to Hanners for attempting to do the hype man thing pre-game. He is getting nothing back from a practically empty County Ground. The Barrow fans in particular were not getting involved at all. Bring out Piccareta, that should get the people going like Lady Humps by the Black Eyed Peas.
It looks like it should be a straight forward 433 this afternoon for Swindon, but there is the outside possibility that he asks Wakeling to play as a left wing-back again as FBT hasn't actually played in his natural position for quite some time. It would be incredibly irksome if that happened, but unfortunately it is not something which can be ruled out.
I have never seen him before, but just by looking at Conor Brann during the warm-ups, he is a good size for a goalkeeper.
It is eight without a win for Swindon and four straight losses leading into this one. Extending this run could see them slip down as far as 16th if results go against them as the charge to make this not the worst season in the club's history continues.
Barrow are a man light on the bench this afternoon, I don't know what this means but it is a fact.
One change for Barrow from the team that beat Crawley 4-0 on Monday as Garner makes way for Whitfield, so presumably that will be a like for like switch and they will stick with the 352.
Farman
Feely McClelland Canavan
Newby Gotts Neal White Brough
Gordon Whitfield
Barrow AFC XI:
Farman, Brough, McClelland, Canavan, Newby, Gordon, White, Neal, Gotts, Feely, Whitfield
Subs: Lillis, Kay, Foley, Warren, Ray, Young
A heroic return for Clayton and Minturn!
Swindon Town XI:
Brynn; Hutton, Brewitt, Clayton, Blake-Tracy; McEachran, Khan, Williams; Wakeling, Austin, Hepburn-Murphy
Subs: Brann, Darcy, Jephcott, Kadji, Lavinier, Shade, Minturn
Barrow have shifted through a few different formations in recent weeks, so I will need a bit of time to figure them out when the team sheets come through.
Barrow are in big need of a win today, sitting five points off the play-offs and have won three of their last five, including a thumping win over Crawley last weekend. You have to expect their hopes will still be alive after today.
Good afternoon everyone. It is play-off chasing Barrow against a Swindon side languishing in the middle, what a weird sentence to be writing. Hopefully Swindon can break out of their malaise and start to show some promise for next season, which is all we can really be looking for.
